    1. [ILWAYNE-L] Martin Creek Cemetery has been added to our Wayne County website
    2. Sandy Bauer
    3. Thanks to Sherry Cissna Hewitt, we now have Martin Creek Cemetery information on our Wayne County website. It has not been proof read yet but you are welcome to take a peak: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/martincreek/index.html I took lots of pictures while I was in Wayne County this past week. Unfortunately, it took me a lot longer than I thought to photograph the gravestones of the cemeteries I did visit. I did Egbert, Miflin, Farnsworth (still not all of it but a big majority), Davis-Mateer (Salem - hopefully most of this one) and one in Jefferson County, Black Oak Ridge that has so many of many ancestors. Good thing I took a photo of Mt. Zion Methodist Church last year since some kids have burned it completely to the ground so Farnsworth is now a cemetery without a church. I will be working on getting all these photos online as quickly as I can. Harry Bryan is working on the information for Bailey Cemetery and hopes to have it ready for the website within a few weeks. Anyone else with time to photograph gravestones or if you already have photographs, please contact me. My aunt joined me from North Carolina and we had a real "trip down memory lane". She also contacted Jack Kelly and had him remove the concrete base and make a new one for my grandparents graves and he did it while we were there last week so she could see the work completed. He did a great job. Anyone needing to reset a gravestone that has started sinking can contact Jack to get a fair price for repairs. I am still catching up on email since I just got home this evening so if I have not replied to your email, give me a day or two to get caught up. We are slowly getting more cemetery information online. We need all the help we can get. I would like to organize a "work party" for next year when I make the trip back to Wayne County. I think it would go quicker if we had a team of two working on a cemetery. I had a cousin help me on Friday and she brushed the stones so I could photograph them. If anyone would like to participate next year the week of Labor Day, let me know. Sandy

    3. Elaine The Clark Cem. is in Vol 2 and I had my sister look for Alexander's grave and there is no Alexander in this Cem. There are LOTS of stones that can not be read, even years ago when Doris went through it. Also, how wise you are to wait for the snakes to go on a vacation ... this old cem. is in the fields, lots of snakes, mostly garden but a snake is a snake! ha! ,Your Curry, I looked in the death book, she was not there, if which is not surprising. If she died in Wayne City, my guess would be Farnsworth, Thomason, or Olive Branch Cem. My sister has all my books but does not have them with her right now (she is at work). Maybe someone on the list will be more helpful. BTW, your Curry, is this her maiden name or married name? If it is her married name, do you know who her husband was? I have Curry line back to 1760 but most start about 1830's. Thanks! 3. Elaine Sorry but I do not have any of Doris Bland's cemetery books. I don't want Doris to think I am copying any of her information to our website. I want to have photos of every gravestone we post on the website. I have accepted some information on burials in cemeteries from people that can convince me they actually visited the cemetery but I hope to eventually have all gravestones photographed. Once we have everything photographed I will purchase books from Doris for the cemeteries my ancestors are buried in. Maybe someone on the list will do a look-up for you. I am copying the list on this reply so others can respond to you. Sandy Elaine Suhre wrote: > Hi Sandy, Didn't know if I got back to you, or not. She attended Mc Kendree College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Pauline taught school in Marion County and was married to Lossie E Morris of Xenia in 1924. McCaully owned The Two Mac's Bakery on North Street in Flora, was a former Mayor and President of the school board when the old high school was built. The original corner stone is carelessly deposited behind the new High School. Efforts of the family to preserve the corner stone have been rebuffed. McCaully was descended from the Pargins, Pettys and McCaullys who came to Lawrence County and had Land Grants before Illinois statehood. The Archibalds were from Ohio County, Kentucky and came to Wayne County, Illinois where they received Land Grants in 1846. Her father, Green Archibald, owned The Archibald Store by the depot in Cisne. Lossie Morris and his brother, Delyte, were from Xenia. For many years Lossie was a prominent civic leader in Collinsville before his death in 1984. He was President of the Savings and Loan and the Chamber of Commerce. He was active in the Methodist Church, politics and the Lions Internatioal as well as a land developer and insurance broker. Delyte Morris is known for his presidency of Southern Illinois University. Pauline, known as Two Mom, is in good health and has 5 children, 4 of whom live in the area. She maintains her own home on the bluffs in Collinsville and is the matriarch of a large, still growing, family. --------------2D13779BE9C5A88F15737FFD--

The search is divided by state, surname, groups, children, wedding, etc. So you can narrow down your search if you need to. Happy hunting. 3. It's been a year or so since I posted this to the list. So, let's try it again, in hopes that someone along the way has joined the list that might have some information they could share concerning this subject. On some research papers that I was given is a note that reads - "George Newton Phelps md. 2nd, Mary L. STOLTZ d/o of F.A. KING and Susan HOOPER on 9 Nov 1888. She was 38 and he was 33. This was the 2nd marriage for both." I need a lot of help in finding out who F. A. KING is. I do not see a KING by that name in the 1850 census. I do not find a Mary KING either. I believe that Susan HOOPER is the d/o Dempsey HOOPER who died in 1834. She would be the sister of Samuel, Wylie, and Rigdon HOOPER. I believe that Mary L. HOOPER's first marriage was to Peter STOLTZ. So, any and all help will be appreciated and I will swap information on any of these families with interested researchers.
