Beverly, I know Jim & Donna Howse well. I actually built Jims computer and I do all his computer repair. Jim is actually the one who helped me get into genealogy. You cant find a more stand up family. I actually have quite a bit of onformation on Martin Luther Puckett. I am back as far ass his great grand parents actually. I have the name ( I think ) of M.L Pucketts great great grandad but that is all I have on him and as far back as I have on the Puckett lineage. Mike Choatie
I would like to thank the Branch family for all of the wonderful work theuy have done on the history of Wayne county. My name is Mike Choatie and I live in Assumption Christian County Il. I am presently researching the Puckett family and the Atterberry family. I will also be researching the Meeks family and some others as well. I am looking for directions to Barnhill cemetary if any one can help. I am going to Barnhill this weekend to Puckett cemetary (if its still standing )and want to stop in Barnhill cemetary on the way. I am taking some photos while there and will be happy to share what I get. I will soon be in possesion of quite a few other certified documents regarding these families and will do what I can to help others. I am new to genealogy so my database is probably not as extensive as others and may request more help than I am able to give at first. I will also be in posession of some old photographs as well, most will be regarding the Puckett, Atterberry and Meeks families. I want to thank all who contribute to this site as it has helped me immensely. Thanks all, Mike Choatie Assumption Il. Great Grandson of Jewell Puckett and Lavina Atterberry
Wayne County Researchers Thanks to Lois Branch who pointed me to Faye Moreland's website, and thanks to Faye Moreland for sharing with us, we now have more photos, obits and information for Henson Cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/henson/index.html Keep those photos and information coming! I'm working on getting our Photos, both "known" and "unknown" linked back into the website. I hope to have the "known" ones done by the end of this weekend. Sandy
hi, Medical doctors charge for their services... just because patients know how to self medicate themselves... does this make MD's low like scum? Is genealogy any different? "Fair Use" copyright laws entitle anyone to copy a few pages at a time. The few who complain the loudest about selling photocopies for $1.50 don't stop to think... the copy cost is $.50... that leaves $1.00 and most will only need one copy. At one order per week... that's $1.00 to pay for driving 25 miles round trip... and usually half an hour to look it up, copy it and mail it out... and time spent to e-mail the results by to the person who can't get out to use the FHC... that's not much compensation. The Family History Library in Salt Lake charges $2.00 a page... so go figure. thanx dennis in reply to: From: "Charlene Dutton" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILWAYNE-L] Lookups: Copyright infringement Dianne, I am suprised to see that copies of copyrighted materials owned by the LD= S=20 Family History Library are being advertised for sale on your site. Wayne Co., IL Researchers, I am going to send a few lines that I got from another person on this subject. It is: Please note that information on the LDS web site is FREE. Most Family History Library normally has a collection of their CDs and microfilm available on site FREE. Additional film may be ordered for a nominal amount, $3.50 for six weeks at my FHL. Also, PAF, their genealogy program, is available FREE. So researchers, take the email that you got from Dennis and use it to help you do your own research. As the way the email was written the first time, he only mentioned what is available to you FREE.. So save the file and use it as a helpful piece of information to help you do your research. Thank you for that information Dennis! Anyone having any comments or complaints, please contact Sandy and me via private email. Thanks! Now, back to FREE research and helping others. Thanks! Dianna Wayne Co., IL Coordinator: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne

DON'T YOU BELIEVE THIS. Pay special attention to the "disclaimer" It means: "I'm stealing other people's work or at best telling you false information to take your money." For more information on how well you will be ripped off by this person/these persons visit his website. (address listed below) http://www.hometown.aol.com/dennisvcarter1/myhomepage/business.html ----------------------------------------------- The website boasts:(Directly quoted from his website) <"Order a photocopy of any page for $1.50 per copy!!!" "Disclaimer! This webpage is not associated with the LDS Family History Library or any Family History Center, nor does it have any connection with or endorsement by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Disclaimer! Although many of the books listed below are currently copyrighted material, and may be for many more years, the law allows for "fair use," so whatever that legally means is for you to decide as most lawyers can't agree on the meaning of "fair use." My job is to do what you hire me to do... the look ups and the photocopying and you are responsible for what you own. All items listed on this webpage have item numbers assigned by the LDS Family History Library. Descriptive titles do not always match the film/fiche title listed in the FHL Catalog. If you'd like to see a detailed description of any item listed here you'll need to go to http://www.familysearch.org/ and click the Library tab at the top of that page and enter the item number. The exact entry or correct page number will be needed... please don't expect me to spend hours searching through unindexed pages for your surname as that is NOT what a lookup is... that is defined as research. Research is available on an hourly basis and a schedule of rates are posted on my webpage... the link to my webpage is at the bottom of this page, please feel free to visit it and examine it. Prices Oct-Apr are $1.50 per photocopy Prices May-Sep are $1.75 per photocopy Personal checks are accepted and may need to be held 7-10 days to clear both banks for new clients first time. Money Orders, Cashiers and bank checks, and cash are all gladly accepted. All orders will be shipped within three business days (Tue through Sat) of payment, not counting major holidays. Please send an adequate sized SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) with the correct postage to: Dennis V Carter, Genealogist Rt 2 Box 113-10 Alamo TX 78516 Please feel free to e-mail any questions to me at [email protected] If you send an e-mail address to have your order confirmed you will be advised the day your order ships by an e-mail. The McAllen Texas Family History Center (a 25 mile round trip drive for me) is where all of the microfiche and microfilm are stored and photocopied. A basic table of contents for this page is as follows: A. Order a photocopy of any page for $1.50 per copy (this beginning section you are now reading) B. Locality and Subject section of microfilms and microfiche (basically in alphabetical order by country and subject, so the United States begins roughly in the middle of this long list. The US has a seperate section on the 1861-1865 Civil War that begins before a listing of states.) C. Surname section of microfilms and microfiche (suggestion: you may want a photocopy of the index first and later decide just which pages you'd like copied) D. Links to related sites... (my webpage tells about books i've authored, my background, genealogical qualifications, and research rates) Looking for a shortcut? Use your Ctrl+f keys to search for a name or a locality and be taken there in less than a second." > (--------------------------------------------- Dianne, I am suprised to see that copies of copyrighted materials owned by the LDS Family History Library are being advertised for sale on your site. I am under the impression that this sale of copyrighted materials for profit is against the law. The librarians who work in the Family History Libraries, which are found around the country, are being told by the Salt Lake Family History Library not to allow copying of entire records/books/manuscripts lent out by them to patrons, because of this very thing. Making a profit off the backs of another's hard work is the lowest form of thievery. I suggest you check out this site if you have ever donated any materials you compiled to the Church fo Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Family History Library, because these people are probably selling it for $1.50 per page. Charlene PS: www.familysearch.org has Personal Ancestral File for compiling your genealogical information FOR FREE! Anyone can visit their family history library page and get a list of what is in the LDS Library in Salt Lake City. It costs 15 cents per microfische to borrow from them. Once you look at the microfische and see if it is what you want, you can copy each page for 25-50 cents per page yourself, or you can send for copies from pages of the books directly. Film and book information is also available. Please be careful what you buy on the internet. ----------------------------- Original Message: >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [ILWAYNE-L] Lookups: Genealogy Look Ups Date: Fri, 1 Nov 2002 >00:19:36 EST > >hi, > Anyone wanting photocopies from the following LDS Family History >Library >microfiche and microfilms: > > Civil War-Illinois >1401524 Livingston County Soldier's Discharge Records 1865-1945 (see IL >item1) >6082244 Four years with Morgan and Forrest (see CSA) >6082405 K F Peddicord of Quirk's Scouts: Morgans Kentucky Cavalry CSA (see >OH) >6082544 Camp and Prison Journal Embracing Scenes in Camp... Looking for information on James H. HARRISON, born in KY about 1826, but by 1860 he was living in Wayne County, IL with wife Rachel (1832), children Mildred (1850), John G. (1852), Kitty (1854), and Martha (1856). The 1880 Wayne County census lists a son William H. (1865). I believe James may be the brother of my gg grandmother, Mary Jane HARRISON who married Elisha E. CARTER. Any help will be appreciated, and I will be glad to share what information I have. Barry Fox SC

All I just found out today that Dianna has been in the hospital past two weeks with double-pneumonia. She called me today after getting home from the hospital. On top of being ill, she also had a virus on her computer that she cannot get rid of and has to take her computer into the shop to get new hard drives installed. She will be offline for several days at best. Please be patient with us both in getting information up on the website. Sandy

All Thanks to Lois Branch we have more cemetery info posted on our website. We now have Brushy Creek and Barnhill. In addition, I've added more maps to help you locate cemeteries if you are planning a trip to Wayne County to do research. Lois also found that Mike Clemmons has posted Barnhill Cemetery information on his Clemmons family website so I've added a link from our web page to his. Keep those contributions coming. I would also like to know of churches that are assocated with cemeteries with a different name. Anyone that has this knowledge, please contact me. I have posted a link from our main cemetery page to the list of churches identified by USGS. Thanks Sandy Wayne Co, Genealogy Cemetery Project Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/
All Thanks to Lois Branch, I have added Barnhill Cemetery information to our website. We do not yet have photos but lots of information! Take a look. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/barnhill/index.html Sandy
