I have been researching the name Coale. My great grandfather was Thomas Edward Coale - born 1871. I just recently found out from a daughter's death certificate that he was born in Wayne County to a John H. and Margaret A. Coale. Can someone tell me if there is a way to check births in 1871 in Wayne Co. without going to the courthouse? Thank you. Pat

Wayne County Researchers I have added lots of photos that have been submitted recently by Elaine Suhre. You will find *TICE, POTTER, KENNERLY, ALEXANDER* and more that are under the "Known" photos links on our website. Elaine also submitted her great great grandmother Elmira ALEXANDER POTTER's tintype photo album. The photo album was a gift from her husband Asa HAYNES POTTER of Wayne Co. The clothing and hairstyles indicate the photos were probably taken in 1860's to 1870's. These photos are linked under the "Unknown" photos. Linda Bridwell has written me to say she now has names for some of her "unknown" photos and will be sending the information to me soon so I can move the photos from the "unknown" link to the "known" link. I still have more additions to do but thought I should give you an chance to peek at these new photos. Sandy Wayne County, IL Genealogy Website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/

According to his marriage record, his father was J D Young and his mother was Elizabeth Young. In 1906 he married Minnie Blanche Courtright, daughter of Jesse Ellsworth Courtright and Hannah Elizabeth Strahl. James was known as "Will" and Minnie was known as "Blanche". Karen I think I found your Reason Leak in Ohio. Would be in Warren Township, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio. Page 88 1830 Census. One male (20-30) and 1 female (15-20). Fits and doesn't belong to my Rezin as I thot he might. Traced my Rezin back to his marriage and he didn't have a boy this age. Hope this helps. I haven't looked to see where Clarksville is, but they must have been married by 1830 so probably a couple of older kids out there. Please let me know if you have found more as I am continuing my search to tie all these Leak/Leek families together. Jerilyn
Wayne Co., IL Researchers Just to let you know I did several uploads tonight and checked out the major links. To see what all is new, on the left side (Index) scroll down to 'What's New' and click on it. On the right side you will see 'some' of the items that I uploaded and Sandy has the Photos and Cem. More to come and I will send you email at that time. Also, check the 'What's New' link. Thanks! Dianna Wayne Co., IL Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne
Wayne Co. IL Researchers Just to let you know I will be uploading data to the web site tonight about 9:00. Then I have to check all the links to make sure all work. I will send email to the list when I am done plus, there is a file on top of the left side index, "What's New". I will list all the new and updated info there too. Keep Sandy busy with photos and cemeteries! ha!! Isn't she doing one great job!?! Sandy is going to start doing the Obits. Since she links a person's stone data to an obit, it will be easier for us if everyone starts sending obits to her. For the year 2K3, we have lots of new items that we are working on! Stay tune!! Hopefully, each day for the next week new or updated items will be added. Happy researching to you all! Dianna Wayne Co., IL Coordinator: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne
Fellow list members; Word has been received of the death of MARY ARCHIBALD SCHWAGER DUNN, 1910-2002, formerly of Cisne, who died in St.Petersburg, Florida, on 9 September 2002.. Mrs. Dunn, an active genealogist and in the DAR, was the great granddaughter of Charles Archibald (1805-1858) and Celia Taylor Archibald (1808-1869) who homesteaded to Zif Township, Wayne county in 1838. They raised a large family, many of who remained near Cisne and were buried in the Cisne and Williams Cemeteries. When her mother, Celia Archibald Brooks retired from business in Cisne, they moved to Florida about 50 years ago where she was an Anaesthetist Nurse. Mrs. Dunn is also a direct descendant of Moses Johnson (1740-1840) of the 2d Virginia Regiment, whose monument stands on the Clay County Court House lawn in Louisville. He is buried in the Lost Cemetery at Louisville. Mrs. Dunn is survived by a son, Dr. Verne A. Schwager of Chicago. Burial took place in Cisne. Roland Bauer Collinsville, IL [email protected] Sandy If you need any other information please contact me. Years ago Celia wrote several articles on this family , some of which we published in the Fairfirld newspaper. Some 10 years ago I published a book on this and related families THE McCAULLYS AND ARCHIBALDS OF ILLINOIS, now out of print other families Johnson, Blakely, Cunningham, Taylor etc
All Dianna asked me to send email to the list to let you know that she has no power at her house and cannot use her computer. There was a big auto accident that knocked out a transformer near her home. They told her they may not have power back on to the area until tomorrow. She was in the midst of uploading a bunch of obituaries. Dianna and I have both been busy putting new information on the website. We'll be announcing some of the new information in another day or two.
