    3. I was told that all people, institutionalized, visiting with a relative or whatever the circumstance, would be listed on a Census Record somewhere. So to find out whether this was true, I looked for a child, supposedly in an Orphanage. I couldn't find them on the Census Record but I found them on Soundex, then went to the Census and found them. The Soundex shows all people in the household, shows if they are visiting or living there, like an Orphanage, then also show where they are enumerated, sheet, roll number, etc. It works for me this way, since the Soundex is alphabetical. Lots of luck on this. I was also told by the Census Records that if someone hid for whatever reason, even an adult, they were not recorded. They simply skipped them. I suppose it was too much trouble to track some folks down. Many people, especially in 1880 census would simply "just go fishing", leaving notes on their doors and such to this effect. They would be left off census because the info was of none effect. They were supposedly counted, just not reported on census. Many things went on like this back in that time.
