Russell, I got a copy of my census CD that I'm transcribing from Heritage Quest. It cost me $20 and it was my second copy. I thought the first CD (from a different company)was just bad but it's not the CD. Anyway the Heritage Quest program was a view option that allows you to INVERT IMAGE. You then have a black background and white writing. That has helped me several times, plus you can enlarge the words.
