Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5g.2ADI/299 Message Board Post: ISO information on the following family: HEAD: Charles SEIGLER, aka SIEGLER, aka SIGLER, aka SULGER One of the first two spellings is believed to have been the correct one. Charles was identified in the 1850 to 1880 US Census as having the following occupations (in order) -- artist, photographer, gunsmith, and locksmith. His place of birth has been identified in various Census records (not in order) as: Illinois, Maryland, Germany, and Prussia. He was last found in the 1900 US Census, at which time he resided in the household of his wife's niece, Sarah H (MAXWELL) THOMASON (see below). WIFE: Jane NORTH Born in Randolph Co, IL, Jane was one of 9, perhaps 12 children of Levi NORTH (c.1793-c.1851) and Catherine (ALLEN) NORTH (c.1811-1849). She married Charles in 1856 in Randolph Co, and moved with him to Washington Co, IL, prior to the 1860 US Census. She was last found in the 1880 US Census. SON: Charles A Born in 1857 or 1858, Jane's son was identified as Charles in the 1860 and 1870 Census enumerations, but as Allen in the 1880 enumeration, which is the last record of him found thus far. STEP-DAU: Sarah Hannah MAXWELL (1859-1940) Upon the untimely death of her mother, Mary Ann "Polly" (NORTH) MAXWELL in Perry Co, IL, 1864, Sarah moved in with Jane, and remained in the latter's household until she married James M THOMASON (sic) (1854-1937) in IL in 1881. It is believed Sarah was the mother of at least four children. These may have included the following, but verification is requested: 1. Harry C (1882-1965 ?) md Catherine 2. Ruth (1886-p.1940) md Charles GUENTHER 3. Mary Marie (1889-p.1940) ...md#1 unkn CUNNINGHAM ...md#2 1930 MO to Harry BRADBURY ...md#3 Fred PAGE 4. Charles ?? (d prior to 1900 US Census) Sarah's death may have occurred in Washington Co, IL, but I would like to verify that. James may have been living in East St Louis in 1920, but I would like to verify that, as well as the spelling of his surname. Polly and Jane were older sisters of my great-grandfather, and I am trying to identify as many of their common relatives as possible. Thus, if anyone has information to share about the above named individuals, I invite you to contact me by e-mail at your convenience.
