He married Mary BELL in TN no later than 1812, and was the father of perhaps 7 or more children. He has been identified as one of at least 7 heirs to the estate of Thos MAXWELL (c.1755-c.1831), late of Bedford Co, TN. Dan and Mary moved to So Il in the early 1830s, and eventually settled in Washington Co, IL. Children of Dan and Mary may have included the following.... 1. Samuel B - bn Bedford Co, TN, ca 1812 -- moved to IL w/his prts 2. son - bn Bedford Co, TN, btn 1810 and 1815; last found 1820 3. son - bn Bedford Co, TN, btn 1810 and 1815; last found 1830 4. James Henderson - bn Bedford Co, TN, 1818; dd IL 1892 5. dau - bn Bedford Co, TN, btn 1815-1825; last found IL 1840 6. dau - bn Bedford Co, TN, btn 1820-1825; last found IL 1840 7. Wm Francis or Franklin - bn Bedford Co, TN, 1826 Of these, Sam and James were named in probate records of Dan's estate, but the bulk of information uncovered thus far pertains to his son, Wm F MAXWELL (1826-1880), who died in AR. However, Wm was buried with his wife and several members of their family in a small cemetery near Oakdale, Washington Co, IL.
