Tempting as the letter idea is :-) (and it is SUCH a clever one) we need to heed Wayne's advice. I used to write for a newspaper. Unsigned letters do not get published. The best we could hope for is a feature from a sympathetic editor on the situation. I wrote to the county commissioner last time around and didn't even get a reply. Since that hasn't happened with past efforts, we may just need to continue to nibble away at the informational needs in other ways. The question is, then, it the editor of the paper willing to antagonize the political officers who place the highly-paid bread-and-butter legal ads and designate his or her paper as the legal county paper? Is he or she willing to antagonize those related to the political officers who run businesses and place other ads in the paper? Would our issue be worth it? Does anyone know this editor? On a happier note, I was in the courthouse of a small Idaho county last week. The clerks just pointed me to the indexes and showed me how to use them to get to documents in the registers and let me do my thing. They helped me get the copies I needed, and copy the data I wanted for half a day. They only asked what I was using it for and I said "to document family history." Jerry in Idaho
