Tom Ganz, the County Clerk, is an elected officer. If he's not recently re-elected, he's about to be for another term. According to some friends who live in the area, he is not at all interested in family histories and from what I understand is as least cooperative as he possibly can be (within the law) for people to do research in his office - even so far as to have very little counter space available on which to look through record books. Evidently he's been digging his heels in harder and harder in the ground the longer he is in office. I tend to agree with others on this list that the only way these records will ever be released will be locals putting the pressure on people in City Hall. Jo
