After watching this ongoing battle with Washington Co. officials for over a year, the expression "fighting City Hall" comes to mind. I do know that my grandfather was born in Lively Grove in 1880. I have heard all of my life that his birth record was destroyed by some natural disaster only to discover it was destroyed by a fire!! I came into possession of his affidavit from the Bureau of Census, dated 1942 verifying his date & place of birth. I just wish that the kind people of Washington Co. & their elected officials would step into the 21st Century. What is lost to disaster or neglect is lost forever. If the IRAD could archive the records, then at least the people in the county offices would have a back up if such a disaster were to happen. But right now it would seem that it's a case of the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. Wish that I lived closer to the site as I do love a good challenge.
