OK, had to write again..... Here is the way that it is in Good Old Washington County.... The total of Family Historians is about (let's be stretching it a bit) 250, and of those 250, only half really active (125)...of those half, only about half go to the county for research (60 or so)....and not all that often, but let's say for safety sake once a year.... So during the whole of a year you got about 60 people that make the trip to Nashville to search the records.......and they only stay for 2-3 days. (ok, now lets lump them all together in January and February, and they spend the night at the hotel, and eat 3 meals a day spending let's say $100....and then they are gone, out of mind and out of sight).....and no more visitors in a 10 month span...... We all know where the majority of time is spent, courthouse and library (which is free), copies....yeah, we might spend $25-50, and then off to the cemeteries...(free again)....----Total spent: $150...for 60 people.....$9,000 dollars, hefty chunk of change for you and I, but a whole county of wealthy landowners who like to plow under our cemeteries??????? Nyet..... Now look at the way Washington County looks at us......we are a nuisance, we take up their time, and we don't really give anything to the county itself, WE DON'T VOTE, we don't shop in their shops, we don't bank where they bank, we don't use the bowling alley or the theater ....heck, we don't even bring our pets to poop on their glorious green lawn at the old courthouse.....WE DON'T MATTER TO THEM!!!!!! So my dear friends, writing all them letters .... you think that will influence Mr. Luchentenfeld, or sway him?? We are not his constituent's.....HAH!!!!! Where there is a will, there is a way......and like Gypsy Rose Lee's mother said "Ya gotta have a gimmick" and that's in my next e-mail............ The Little General Marci Lamar Kasen
