Just a possible..........Edit to your satisfaction: Citizens of Washington County, I am writing this as an appeal to you. I came to Washington County in the year___. Though times were tough, my family and I eked out a living. Through my toil, my sweat, my blood, I made this county my home. I lived here and I died here. When I came, your pastures and fields were barren; full of rock and tree.I cleared that land, I tilled it with nothing more than a horse and a harness that was strapped to my back. You are now reaping the reward of my efforts. Why, I even fought a war so that you may call your home "The United States of America". The things that meant so much to me; family, friends, opportunity, dignity, and respect have now passed by the wayside. They are sadly replaced by material goods that will not comfort you when you are alone, hold your hand when you are frightened, or stand by you in need. Now as I lay cold in my grave, which is marked with nothing but a broken stone, I am ashamed of my county. I am ashamed that you have forgotten. My appeal is this: Allow the records that are public domain to be such. Let the Archives microfilm all that is allowed. Do not allow all my life to be in vain. Allow my descendants the chance to remember me. Allow yourself the opportunity to return to a just and rightous human existance. I realize that I am just dust in the wind now, but Washington County was my legacy to you. I demand that you cherish it and preserve it, not just for today, but for all of time.
