Sorry Marci, There are those of us who do VOTE in Southern Illinois and can do a little stirring up. I posted the address because regardless of who and where you live You have a right for the preservation of legal documents. There are ways and means to begin to stir the pot. Calling and writing is a start. Ads. HEY? Political time of year beginning around Illinois. How much does an ad cost in the local paper? Other area papers. Wake up the residents of Illinois to what is happening. There are some I am sure who are avid family historians that don't have a direct link to Washington county but to Illinois they do. I donate my share towards ads. Need someone to be great with words and innovative ideas to attract the readers of Southern Illinois time to work at preserving history. Could we not contact all societies and clubs in the state of Illinois requesting they all get actively involved with legislature at the state level mandating the preservation of county records better than those on the books? Throw the stones and watch the circles grow. Wonder how many members in all of Illinois belonging to Historical and Genealogical societies? In the St. Louis area a TV reporter did research on his family back to the slaves in the south and just published a book on how hard to find documents. Julius Hunter would be a great contact in the TV media to possible do a interest story on Illinois counties and the preserving of documents. Wil
