I've found my ggg grandmother, Amalia Grossman, age 12, listed as Malia Groszmann in Covington on the online 1880 census index at familysearch. Page 447C of the census. She is living with the family of Frederic Henrichsmeyer, his wife Mathide, his brother, Henry, and two sons: Ernst and Henry. As nearly as I can see, she is not related to this family. They are from Prussia while Amalia's ancestry is Swiss, for example, and I have no Henrichsmeyers in the database right now. If anyone has information on on the Henrichsmeyer family that they can share that might shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. I find no other Grossman or Groszman in the county.
