    3. John-- Thanks very much for the information. Checking the books _Die Familien der Kirchengemeinde Hartum_, Henry Sr. appears to be Heinrich Wilhelm Schnitker, born March 7, 1848, son of Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Schnitker, a Schneider (tailor) and Heuerling (tennant farmer) in Hartum and Christine Marie Horstmann, born in neighboring Südhemmern, Kr. Minden. The brothers were probably Friedrich Wilhelm Christian Schnitker, born Apr. 8, 1842 and Heinrich August Wilhelm, born May 15, 1853. There was also the youngest brother, Gottlieb August, born January 8, 1857. All four are listed in the book _Vivat Amerika, Auswanderung aus dem Kreis Minden 1816--1833_ as emigrating in 1857. Given their ages, I would think they must have come with their parents, or at least another older relative. I know it wasn't unusual for a fifteen-year-old to emigrate by himself, but with an infant brother in tow? While they aren't directly related to my Steffen line, they add one more piece of evidence to an already pretty overwhelming picture of the emigration pattern from the Minden area to Washington county. And as I'm sure you know from your own research, if I look long enough, I can probably find some kind of relationship somewhere through one of the other branches. Thanks again.
