Christine, You might be able to find an 1860 IL census index and see if Elihu Williams was in the state of IL at all. The index is in 2 volumes, IL North and IL South. Some libraries have these books. I don't see Elihu Williams in 1865 Washington Co. IL on the state census. Dot
