    3. WELL !! We almost generated as much e-mail as last years dreaded "Roll-Call". I have remained on the list because, as I tell others, it's like" talking to a neighbor over the back fence". Cousin Marci even lets me send jokes, off the list , without complaining. Listening to all the complaints about the Washington County Officials made me want to see for myself....what was going on..The wife and I spent a day in Ashley and Nashville just before Christmas. They were polite and helpful but made it known they didn't want anything to do with the dirty (dusty) records in the basement. Also mentioned was a cut off in the works for current records. The library in Nashville,IL has some reference material and a list of the cemetaries and a tombstone index !...just depends on what you're looking for.....they also have the Nashville Newspaper on microfilm.....and a way to copy any page for only 50 cents......found a lot of help at the Ashley Post Office. We got there about 9am, just as everyone arrived to pick up the mail that had just arrived. Most of the cemetaries were in good shape but a lot of tombstones were cracked and stacked in a pile. Marci: a lot of the migration to Texas were veterans(1845) and their relatives. Everyone was offered a landgrant living or dead! The land grants were bought/sold/& traded. We drove from Texas to NC,TN,IL,MO,OK,& back to TX. Had the most help in Robertson County,TN....they bent over backwards to help. more later.............Marshall Jard in TX lookin'for (wifes) Walker,Beck in Wash Cty
