<< William Benjamin Richards born 05-07-1881 in Becaup, Ill. >> Hi Shirley, I don't know any of your folks here, but are you sure you mean Becaup above or Beaucoup? My lines in Washington Co. are Markham, Martin, Carter, Phillips and Whittenberg. My John Phillips came 1819 to Beaucoup and I have most on him and his line. I am working on his mother Elizabeth Sarah Burns. She came up with them from Bount Co.,Tenn. But I can't find her line back. She is suppose to be Penn. Dutch. but her name is Scottish. John's wife was Sarah Whittenberg I have a lot on them also. John's daughter Nancy Lowe Phillips married Richard P. Carter and both died of fever 1849 leaving my Great grandmother Sarah M. Carter and her brother to be raised by John PHillips. I can't connect my Richard P. Carter to the other Carters with proof but I think he connects with them I just don't know how. Sarah married James John Martin whose folks came up in 1850 from Bedford Co. Tenn. His dad had died there. but his mom came with dad's brothers and sisters. (Brown, Bush, Obryant - sister's married names).Mom's name was Elizabeth Phillips Martin...(I have two Phillips lines.) I don't know her parents. Sarah and James Martin's daughter Ava Martin my grandmother married Samuel Markham son of James R. Holland Markham. I can't find his parents. The Markhams came to Washington Co. from Arkansas in 1873. Marci on list has an Elizabeth Markham Summers..that we think is sister to my James but we can't prove it. So that is basically what/who I am looking for. Interested in anything you have with those names. Thanks Ava :)
