    3. Hi Shirley, My families in Washington Co. IL include William TAYLOR>>James Wiley TAYLOR>> then over to Marion Co. and the DUNCANs, SHELTONs, HADDENs, (and those are just the direct lines, but I look for all of their in-laws, cousins, etc. etc.) My mother was a Hadden, my father a Mitchell. Also I have two Mitchell lines: Solomon MITCHELL (from St. Clair Co. IL to Wayne Co.) 1814-1858, married Paulina ALEXANDER, 1824-1864, d/o Walter Aquilla and Catherine (JOLLIFF) ALEXANDER. The Alexanders were in Jefferson, Wayne, Marion Counties and Paulina moved to Clinton Co. after she was widowed. Her estate settlement was handled in Washington Co. In Washington Co. the son of Solomon and Paulina MITCHELL, Samuel Shook MITCHELL, 1844-1914, married Amanda MITCHELL, 1846-1935, d/o Allen and Sarah Mitchell formerly of Warren Co. TN, Dade Co. MO and then Washington Co. IL. >From there Allen and Sarah eventually moved to TX, and died in there in 1889 and 1887, respectively. Samuel and Amanda moved to Montgomery City, Montgomery Co. MO. Where my grandfather and father were born. Amanda Mitchell's brother, Doctor James MITCHELL (name, not profession) lived in Washington Co. IL, from where he served in the Civil War, and where he married Lydia L. PARKER, whose parents and siblings are unknown to us. Dock and Lydia moved to Round Rock, Williamson Co. TX, where they died. Our "brick walls" are Allen and Sarah Mitchell. He was born NC (don't know what county) Nov 12, 1793. We don't know his parents and aren't sure of his siblings. We don't know Sarah's maiden name, siblings, or much else, except that she was born in TN, Feb 22, 1804 and died Nov 11, 1887 in TX. (Can't find them on a census after 1865, Washington Co. IL.) Another "brick wall" is Walter Aquilla ALEXANDER, born 1790-1800, KY. We don't know his parents or exactly which county in KY he was born. He died before 1850 in Marion Co. A son lived in Clinton Co. It seems that I "specialize" in common names. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Dot
