This is what was told to me by my Aunt........ Spicey Kinyon married James E. Parks in Washington County 1854. This has been confirmed by Delores in a look up in the Looking Back series (Tanks Delores)........ Anyway, Aunt Freida says that on the tombstone of James E, it says......."Gone to Texas".....he never came back ...... On the 1880 census it states that Spicey is now a widow. So James was gone and dead by then. Aunt says that many men went to Texas during that time...... Question.......why did they go??? Too late for the Mexican war.....and it was after the Civil....
