How might I go about finding an obituary for a Catherine Rosenbeck Brandt b. 3 Mar 1839 in Prussia and d. 11 Sep 1905 in Nashville? I am really spinning my wheels trying to get her traced back to Germany. We believe she had a brother named Heinrich who also lived in New Minden and a sister Gertrude who married Charles A. Walker and lived in St. Louis. We think her father's name was also Heinrich. The Church records in New Minden give no clues as to her village, and we found nothing in the courthouse due to the storm damage etc., when we were there a couple of years ago. There are no family records as nearly as we know. She emigrated about 1855 according to the 1900 census and married Carl Brandt in St. Louis in 1857, per registration captured on the Vital Records Index CD. A search for the marriage record itself has come to naught. They lived in St. Louis County and we find them on census there for 1860. They don't show up in either Missouri or Illinois for 1870, but they are in New Minden by the 1880 census. The children had been baptised at St. John's with some regularity, however.
