Cousin, you asked how "Taylor could be bought". If the Taylor family didn't set the family cemetery land aside when they sold the farm, it is a part of the land and not, by law, a cemetery. That has happened to so many family cemeteries. The Article was in the Edwardsville Intelligencer this morning! Looks like there may be some hope for all the abandoned cemeteries in Illinois. I am getting ready to forward some papers sent to me by a woman in regards to Taylor Cemetery in Wash Co. to my legislators. They are pics of when the owners of the cemetery decided to have it bulldozed! >Some good news though Bill, Logan/Flanagan is not owned by anyone. I talked to them at the treasurers office there at the courthouse. Heck, I even tried to buy it. He told me that cemeteries are exempt from purchase. (this brings into question how Taylor could be "bought")!!? >Should anyone want me to scan the article, and send it to them, I would be more than happy to do so. >Marci >----- Original Message ----- >From: "levanti" <[email protected]> >To: <[email protected]> >Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2000 12:37 PM >Subject: [ILWASHIN] Fw: [ILJEFFER-L] Fw: [ILJOHNSO-L] New Cemetery Law > > >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: CFord <[email protected]> >> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> >> Date: Thursday, February 10, 2000 10:30 AM >> Subject: [ILJEFFER-L] Fw: [ILJOHNSO-L] New Cemetery Law >> >> >> >> > Hello, >> >> > >> >> > >From today's Chicago Tribune online (www.chicagotribune.com) >> there is a >> >> > story about what the Illinois legislature is doing.
