I wonder if the Rybacki's you researched are connectedd to my Kate Michalek. I noticed a Katherine Muhalek on the Radom records, apparently her husband was a Stephen Taichner? In 1881 they had a child Francesca A. Taichner?. The witness' I have noted are Thomas Winka and Anna JARZE?SKA. Somehow that name stuck with me as seemed similar to Kate Michalek. Barb
I am looking for someone that could copy probate records for me at the Count House in Nashville. There would be five boxes to go through and I suspect they will be wills, etc. Is there anyone out there that can do this for me? I live in Kansas and do not see in trip to Illinois in the near future. Bill Hundelt
Looking for anyone also researching the Whittenberg/Hoyle ancestory. I find that the dates in the Our Kin book and the Peiter Heyl and his descendents book by Eliz. Hoyle Rucker are both off by about 20 years for the children of Whittenberg and Mary Anne Hoyle. Mary Anne Hoyle's birth date is also off by about 20 years. According to her obit. she lived to be 80 years died in 1845 and was born in 1765. These books have her born in 1740's. This makes me wonder if these books are off a generation for parents of Mary and perhaps the Mary that married Whittenberg was a daughter of Michael or John? John apparently did have a Mary who married a Harlick as I just found the tombstone online. Does anyone know about Michael's daughter who she married? Both are given 1867 as birth dates which would match closely with my Mary. Mary and her husband moved to Blount Co. TN where they had all their children and then moved on to Washington Co. IL where she died. Her children were active in the Methodist church, one being a minister and they moved there to establish the church there. Her son in law Col. John Phillips built a blockhouse in 1819 in IL that resembles the wellhouse online that Peiter built in NC. Her grandson was President of McKendree College. Anyone researching this family that has any more data on this birth date mixup? Thanks. Ava
To all those researching Polish families in Washington County: I am interested in the members of the Michalski family or families who settled in Washginton County around 1873. They came from Prussian-held Poland, probably the area around Poznan. One of them, Nicholas Michalski seems to have been one of the original settlers of the Radom area. I have been looking for immigration records for them and have found a number of them indexed on "Germans to America". It looks like several of them landed at the port of New York city and gave Pennsylvania as their US destination. My own ancestor's third child was born in Philadelphia before they wound up in Washington County, a year or so later. Now here's my question: Why Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? Does anyone know why they would go there first, before heading west? All you need to do is give your library card number. And you can access it from at home. Heritage Quest Online has a W.C. book published online that I think would be of great interest to the old settlers. This is Washington County : (its first 150 years, 1818-1968) Nashville, Ill.: Sesquicentennial Committee of the Historical Society of Washington County, 1968, 96 pgs. WTG W.C. Historical Society. There are also some books/manuscripts from other small Illinois counties as well. Kudos to W.C. for submitting the book. My dream would be if HeritageQuest would also publish foreign historical books from known immigration spaces online as well. Barb

The date was Nov. 10th..but duh.. the year..I think was 1886, lol me.. I didn't copy the year of that register, but.. I know that Dionizy and Mary PAWLAK were married 1886, and the record for Antonina was on the following page. Anyway, ANTONINA'S father is listed as Andrea KRAWIECKI and her mother is listed as Cath. MICHALEK. ..witness were Simon [Krawiecki/maybe ..or ? WICKA] and Veronica [WIESTEL?/WIENTEL?] Anyway.. it gave me proof that Dionizy and Antonina were brother and sister..as Dionizy parents were the same. And on the 1900 census I found Andrezy and Kate living with John KRAWIECKI, ( Dionizy next door) so that gave me proof that the three were siblings. Barb

I suggest you also try the surname navigator to find the biggest concentration of people with the surname: its at: www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator you place your name in the search box and multiple frames come up (6-10) of different sites with results, as this takes a long time, i suggest you do this when you have two hours to spare. good luck, Mary de francesco
