I've had a pretty good response to my offer of lookups for Washington County. I've been happy to do them. Unfortunately, most of them have not yielded any results, however I have found family histories for six of you. I'm posting this note to the list rather than write six different e-mails to those six. I am going to TRY and photocopy the pages rather than attempt to type out all of the information as this would take a good bit of time at the computer because some of them are a bit lengthy. Because of physical limitations on my part, sitting at my computer for extended periods is quite uncomfortable for me. The problem is that the book is large, thick and heavy which makes photocopying difficult. It's rather hard to manipulate a book of this size on a copy machine. I've tried to do this before with books of this size and it does get to be quite a job. Each page of this book has two columns of type. For those histories that happen to fall on the outside column of the page, it's not as difficult to get a decent copy, but for those histories that fall on the inside column next to the spine, it's sometimes difficult to get a decent copy because the type is so close to the spine as the page curves inward towards the spine and you must press down on the spine of the book in order for all of the page to come in contact with the copy bed. Sometimes you can do it, sometimes not. It also tends to break down the spine. I will take the book to the place where I make my copies and see what I can do. I'll do my best for all of you, but I can't make any promises. If I can make readable copies, I'll mail them to you. If I can't make readable copies, I'll just have to type them out a few at a time. I have found family histories for the following people and this note is meant for you: 1. DWahlst248@aol.com Diane 2. DLHGLH@aol.com Deborah 3. ruthab@neto.com RuthAnn 4. agpav@midwest.net Anglea 5. mendotreas@pacific.net Julia 6. linda@milin.net Linda Please be patient with me. Both my wife and I are disabled and I have many things that take up my time. I will do my best to get them done as soon as possible because I know how anxious all of you are to see what's in the book. I have been in your place MANY times before. It is because of the mulitudes of people that have helped me in the past by doing the very same thing I'm hoping to do you that makes me want to do it for you. I wish to return the favor that has been done for me so many times in the past. Because of family needs, I don't get out much so it may be a while before I can get the information to you. If each of you want to go on and send me your snail mail addresses, I'll have them already when I get the copying done. Since I have so many things go on all the time, you might periodically remind me if you don't hear from me. I hope that my efforts will bring excitement, as well as some needed information to all of you. I know myself that in the past when I received information like this, I was always so excited. I'm still available for the time being for anyone else who desires a lookup. Best wishes to all of you, Bill Atherton

A great link to all newspapers in the country... www.gebbieinc.com/dailyint Now we can read the obits almost everywhere! When asked how he was doing my grandfather had two responses: 1. I don't know yet; I haven't asked grandma. 2. I don't know yet; I have read the obits. Later in the day after having read the obits, he would say he wasn't in there so he must be okay. Gloria

Hope most folks will allow these to be posted since that would mean you'd have less chance of being asked for the same information twice. Any information on surnames Rosenbeck, Moenkhoff, Grossman, or Herrman? I have a feeling you won't find it in the main entries, but if it shows up within others, it would still be valuable. Does anyone have information on the Kamadulski, Oblamski or Szymanski families of Washington Co? I believe that all three families came to St. Louis and then the Nashville, Illinois area around 1880. I would be interested in exchanging info on these families. Al Smith

Many many thanks to William (Bill) Atherton for offering to do some "lookups" for us. I don't have any Washington Co. books, so might ask him to do one for me. So far in my line I have only been able to go back to about 1804 when it was St. Clair Co. Thanks again William, Robert Middleton Robert J. Hi, Bill Thank you so very much for your kind offer to do lookups. I have just recently begun to research my family branch that migrated from Washington County, IL to Texas, so I don't have much info to go on. They immigrated in 1880. On the 1910 census it was noted that they had 10 ch. with 9 living. I know of only five ---- 1.Max b. 1888 in IL. d.
