    3. Dear List: Have discovered that a Michalski ancestor from Washington Co.originated from a county "Forogu" in Prussian Poland of the late 1870s. He was born there in 1874, arrived in US approximately 1876, traveling west by wagon to Dubois area. Am unable to locate this place and suspect it is mis-spelled. Any ideas about what or where it is based on other travel patterns of Washington Co. Polish immigrants? I have done some research and found out, that the probably most famous member of the Ryterski-family was a knight, called Peter Ryterski, who lived in the 15th century in Poland. According to the famous chronogist Jan Dlugosch in his "Annales" he was appointed to educate the King's two sons Wladislaw and Casimir, to teach them to read and how to behave correctly in 1457. Maybe it would be possible, if could let me know, if you have got any information about the Ryterski family before they immigrated to the USA ?

    1. [ILWASHIN] Washington County Lookups
    2. William "Bill" Atherton
    3. To all of those people that I've said I found family histories for them in the Washington County History Book, I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten you. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, but my plate has been really full the last couple of months since I made the lookup offer. Both my wife's older sister and older brother are very sick and we've had our hands full with them. Her sister is terminal with pulmonary fibrosis and could die any day and her brother has pancreatic cancer and I'm sure you know the usual outcome of that disease. I'm afraid my wife will loose them both around the same time. On top of that, my wife is not in the best of health herself. She has multiple health problems, among them being that she had a massive cornonary in August of 1999 and I'm scared to death what effect her sibling's deaths will have on her. On top of everything else, my wife's other medical problems require a major part of my day taking care of her. We're both disabled and can't do a lot. Actually my wife can't do anything as she is almost blind, so everything falls to me. I don't complain mind you, I'm just letting you know my situation. It's just something I've lived with for 12 years. I'm just happy that I'm able to take care of her. But since I'm also disabled, I have to pace myself because if I get down then we're in DEEP TROUBLE!! I still intend to try and copy the pages for you, but PLEASE be patient with me as it will take some time. I may have to resort to typing out the info in e-mails to each of you and that WILL take time. Since I didn't put those of you I found info for into a file by itself, I would like to ask each of you that I told that I had found info, to send me an e-mail and let me know again who you're looking for and what I told you I found, in fact if you still have my e-mail in your computer, forward it back to me and I will put all of them into a file so when I go to make the copies, I'll know exactly who I need to help and the surnames they need. Thanks, Bill Atherton

    1. [ILWASHIN] Coulters in Washington County
    2. Linda Hirst
    3. Hello List, I am a descendant of Robert Stuart COULTER and am interested in learning about his children, but in particular his son, JOHN WYLIE COULTER, who is my grgr grandfather. The Robert Stuart Coulter family moved from Madison County to St Clair County before 1850. They lived at one time on what was later known as the Fred Winter place, east of Marissa in Washington County. They later lived in a brick home located a short distance southwest of the site of the Dickey School. In 1850 John Wylie was living with his parents in District #20, Washington County. In 1860 he and his family lived in Union County. I don't know how soon after the Civil War he returned to Washington County. Maybe his family lived with his mother, Isabelle Coulter, while he was gone?? Then again in 1870 they lived in Township 4 S R 5 W. Is this Lively Grove?? I am anxious to find out about John Wylie Coulter. I've found information on genealogy sites about his brothers and sisters, but not about him. Any information or suggestions would be truly appreciated! Linda Coulter Hirst srlchirst@msn.com

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5g.2ADI/146.1 Message Board Post: Hello, Katherine, If you're sure it was a Lutheran cemetery, you might try contacting Trinity Lutheran Church, 680 W Walnut St., Nashville, Il. 62263 (618) 327-3311. I'm not certain how long the church has existed, but your gggrandfather may be in their records. Nashville Evangelical Cemetery is associated with St. Paul's United Church of Christ (formerly Evangelical, Evangelical and Reformed), 330 N Buhrman, Nashville, Il. 62263 (618) 327-4326. This is the church my father grew up in and most of his side of the family is buried in this cemetery. Another possibility is St. Luke's Evangelical Cemetery, which is included in the list of Nashville Township cemeteries on the RootsWeb page for Washington County. I'm not sure where this one is located. I live in New Jersey but will be going home to Illinois in July for a couple weeks. If you can wait that long, I'll only be an hour from Nashville. I'd be happy to check the cemeteries and at the Court House for you then. aschorfheide@comcast.net Jean Schorfheide Galloway, NJ

Surnames: AHLF, ALF, MEIER, MILLER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5g.2ADI/146 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on some AHLF ancestors and relations, who lived in Nashville, Washington County. Family tradition has it that my gggrandfather Klaus/Claus/Christian AHLF died in Nashville, Washington County. I know that both my great-grandmother Elise AHLF MILLER and her brother George AHLF lived in Nashville, but would love to find my great-great grandparents. Does anyone have access to a pre-1916 Illinois death index? I would love to know if there is an entry for Klaus/Claus/Christian AHLF in Washington County, Illinois. I did not find him on the 1900 census, so he may have died between 1880 and 1900. Another question. George AHLF was buried in the "Evangelical" Cemetery (Lutheran) in Nashville, Washington County. Does anyone have any ideas where that was located or if there is any way to access those cemetery records? Thank you so much for your patience! Sincerely, Katherine Bellingham, Washington kurtkathkels@aol.com
