Just finished reading the 1860 Washington County census (at Ancestry.com) looking for Andrew J. Phenix and/or his wife Sarah. Did not find them. For those of you who have to depend on Ancestry.com for Illinois censuses, as I do, perhaps the following listing will be helpful. Meanwhile, if anyone has access to an index for Perry Co. or St. Clair County, please let me know if you see a listing for the Phenix (Phoenix/Fenix, etc.) surname. The information I was given said William & Lizzie BUDDE were buried 'in a Catholic section of a cemetery'. This sounds like to me that it must have been a cemetery where non-Catholics were also buried. All I know is that they were residing in Nashville, IL in 1900. Lizzie BUDDE was born in Ashley, IL, and died in 1903. So, I have been looking for the names of cemeteries in the Nashville - Ashley area. Thanks so much for your help, and for responding to my message. Karen Long

Thompson, March 30, 1865, in Putnam County, MO. I have an 1860 census from Putnam County, MO with a Peter Thompson born in Illinois age 37. His wife is Jane age 36. I think I traced them to Macoupin County in 1850, but according to the Illinois Marriage Index, they were married in Washington County, IL, March 16, 1845. In 1850, their children were Robert J & Vienna C. ages 3 and 1, respectively. In 1860 their children were Robert J. age 13, Viannah age 11, Mary E., age 8, Rachel age 6, and James age 3. James was born in Missouri, all others in Illinois. Also, living with them is Reuben Thompson age 45 born in Tennessee. Robert is Mary Ellen's first husband and died before 1879, because she married my gggrandfather Henry Loyd in that year. Robert & Mary had children, William born 1867, MO, John T. 1871, IL, Robert F. abt 1873, MO and Fannie M about 1875, MO I found Robert living with his half-brother and mother in Johnson County, KS in 1930, but no other information, yet. Hi, AOL members got on free a month or so back and I had the same problem. I would get Cook County which is Chicago for some of my names when clearly I was looking up Washington Co. Not all names took me there. I did find a lot of Washington Co. names. I thought it some kind of glitch in the system as sometimes it would be on Washington Co. and then change to Cook Co. Frustrating to say the least. I didn't know how to reach anyone to get it corrected. My husband has relatives buried in several Catholic cemeteries in the Nashville area, including St. Michael's (Radom), St. Charles (Dubois), St. Barbara (Scheller), and the cemetery in Posen (Our Lady of Perpetual Help, I think).

M.C. Barret was one from 1922. Burial place of this ancestor was Mount Olive cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. though the cert was filed in Illinois. Was completed by Tony Otto of Beaucoup, Illinois. So I know ancestor was mine because Tony Otto was married to my greatgrandmothers sister. [Veronica Krawiecki] This cert happend to be my greatgrandmothers grandma. Her name was Michalina Szymura-Pawlak. She was born 28 Sept. 1836. She was 86.3.1 when she died on 29 Dec. 1922. I only just found out her maiden name! She would be Leonard Krawiecki's great grandma. (I think you had in in your tree?) Another Undertaker's name was polish name.. [SZ?ARNALEWSKI?] of Radom. Can't really make it out. This is Stanislawa Majewski- Krawiecki's death cert dated Sept. 1917. (She was my ancestors brothers wife.) Another one hard to read. Undertaker is J. Denediu? Illegible. Does say place of burial is Posen, Bolo, Washington Illinois. This one is dated from the 1940's. Wonder what cemetery that is in Posen, W.C. Illinois? And another M.C. Barret. buried at Radom. dated 1921.

BTW for those who don't know of the area's being talked of. Perhaps W.C. is online now. Been awhile sinse I checked because when my subscription was up the records were of no benefit to me. They didn't have census or information available for the City or County of the State I was looking for. Also...for the people I was looking for, though they were indexed... No view was available. So I really couldn't positively verify that it was indeed my ancestor the index listed, even though I suspected it was.

I believe that Greenwood Cemetery has a Catholic section in their cemetery. It has been years since I last been back there. Five miles north of Nashville is the St John Cemetery for New Minden. I suppose there are others. in the vicinity. Hope that helps. Tom ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
