    1. [ILWASHIN] Marriage records
    2. Darlene Burzynski
    3. Dear List, Thank you to those of you who responded to my earlier e-mail. I spoke to the clerk in your county court. She said the old marriage records are recorded and indexed by the first letter only. In my case, someone would have to go through all the names that start with W to find a Christian WOLF marriage for me. I expect the marriage took place about 1865 or in the first half of 1866. I am looking for Christian Wolf's marriage to Anna or Mary LANDER. If anyone would like to volunteer, I assure you I would repay copy costs. Of course, I am not sure the marriage took place in Washington Co. It was suggested to try there since it is not on line for Clinton Co. nor St. Clair Co., nor St. Louis. If anyone has Wolf family research needs, I may have something to share, please let me know. Darlene

    3. This time I am looking for a phone number for the Washington Co. Court House or, can anyone point me to someone who does lookups for marriages? I can't find a marriage for my gr grandfather, Christian Wolf and Anna Maria Lander. They had children baptized in the Mascoutah Evangelical Church starting in 1866. Their marriage record is not in SCC nor in Clinton Co. I also checked St. Louis. I'm sure they were married in the U.S. Anyone knowing or researching a John Wolf family from Essenheim? They came to the IL area in 1846. The children in this family were Magdalena Wolf, Anna Maria Wolf, Christian Wolf, Christina Wolf, and Adam Wolf. Thanks for your interest. Darlene

I am trying to locate registration of a birth or death of a Helena Gill, b. about 1881 to John Peter Gill and Marguerite Gill. She was baptised in the Catholic Church at about three months of age, but none of the family has any record of her. We don't know if she died as an infant. If so, she doesn't seem to be buried with the rest of the family at Todds Mill. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks loads,Doloros Babbitt

    1. [ILWASHIN] Schuette, Horntrup, Winte
    2. Jerry Cowley
    3. I hope this panel can assist me with an answer to this letter. A correspondent in Newport News, VA wrote to me in Idaho concerning the surnames: Schuette, Horntrup, Winte. She says in part, "My grandfather was Fred or Friedrich Wilhelm Horntrup (Schuette). I found that he had a sister Florentine Horntrup married to Henry Winte, and they had a daughter Maria Louisa, Feb 8, baptized February 19, 1882 in New Minden. I believe he also had a brother or cousin, William Schuette, who married Carolina Winte, on Aug. 11, 1887." She states that the Horntrups changed their last name to Schuette. I have several lines that marry into either Winte or Schuette, and a list of those surnames, but not a great deal of family continuity. I suspect they are related to each other more closely than my records show. These are colateral lines for me, but a primary concern for her, so I would like to help. She doesn't appear to be on computer. Thanks, Jerry Cowley

    3. I'm hoping to find a descendant of Margaretha Finke. She married Christian Wolf in Mascoutah, IL on 22 May 1876. The marriage record said she was Margaret Bode, nee Finke, a widow from St.Louis. I also have among my brick walls, a daughter of Christian Wolf, Barbara Wolf, who's marriage I can not find. In 1918, this Barbara [Griffith? (I can't be sure of the spelling of the name but it starts out GRI____.)] was living in Bradley, IL. Any clues to these above would be greatly appreciated. Darlene

Our library currently charges $.10 each for either an 8.5x11 or 11x17 copy on either the copier or the reader/printer. What does your local library charge? Do the machines take coins only or can you use coins or a copy card? Thanks for your response. You can reply to me directly...no need to post to the list.
