My maiden name is Jan Frances Przygoda, my father's name was John Francis Przygoda, he died last July. His father's name was Jack Przygoda (although I never met him, he died before I was born). As I said if I find anything I will let you know.
While dinking around (or running amok) in the Gale Index of Passenger and Immigration lists, Cum. Supplement v. 2, p. 890, I found the following reference: Hanenberger, Adam ILL n.d. 1830 p. 183 wife Christina W. Mankhoff It is supposed to be listed in "Emigrant Files" in the Germanic Genealogist, #9-12 (one issue), 1972, p. 172-209. This couple were my ggg grandparents. The names are spelled Hannenberger or Hahnenberger and Moenkhoff or Munkhoff in some sources. Any ideas on how to access the Germanic Genealogist? While we have a passenger list for Christina and her family (sans Adam) from Kleinenbremen, North Rhine-Westphalia, his home community is still a mystery for us. Allegedly he was from Bavaria. This source appears to have been compiled after they were married in the USA. Thanks--again, Jerry Cowley
Can anyone confirm whether or not Emma Eckert, daughter of Louis Eckert and Diozena Shubert about 1887 poss Elkton is the same as Emma A. Eckert b. 2 Apr 1886 of Covington who married William Jules Earl Pries on 25 Nov 1906? Also whether Josephine Eckert dau of Louis and Diozena is the same as the Josephine Eckert who married Walter Riemenschneider? I have both Josephines estimated in the 1890s for a birth date. Thanks, Jerry Cowley PS Thanks again to everyone who responded regarding an obituary for Catherine Rosenbeck!

All the information fits but I need to verify it. Raymond Adkins born 25 Feb 1911 and died 24 Sep 1992 in Ashley, Illinois of Washington County. Could someone please find out who his parents were, if they were listed on his death certificate. I'm trying to find a Raymond Adkins who was born in Cabell County, WV on the same date as above. His parents were Andrew Jackson Adkins and Eunice Irene (Chapman) Adkins. Would like to know if this is the same person. Thank you.
What local orphanages might children of soldiers have been placed in in the 1870's? One suggestion was Normal, IL but I think it might have been closer to Southern IL. Does anyone have info. about a children's home in Irvington? How might I go about finding an obituary for a Catherine Rosenbeck Brandt b. 3 Mar 1839 in Prussia and d. 11 Sep 1905 in Nashville? I am really spinning my wheels trying to get her traced back to Germany. We believe she had a brother named Heinrich who also lived in New Minden and a sister Gertrude who married Charles A. Walker and lived in St. Louis. We think her father's name was also Heinrich. The Church records in New Minden give no clues as to her village, and we found nothing in the courthouse due to the storm damage etc., when we were there a couple of years ago. There are no family records as nearly as we know. She emigrated about 1855 according to the 1900 census and married Carl Brandt in St. Louis in 1857, per registration captured on the Vital Records Index CD. A search for the marriage record itself has come to naught. They lived in St. Louis County and we find them on census there for 1860. They don't show up in either Missouri or Illinois for 1870, but they are in New Minden by the 1880 census. The children had been baptised at St. John's with some regularity, however. Thanks, Jerry in Boise

Due to the fact that many people may have relatives who once served in the Army and may have spent time at the Jefferson Barracks facility I am passing along some interesting information from Scott Williams with his permission. Have recently discovered that my ggg grandfather, Carl Wilhelm Friedrich Brandt immigrated to the US aboard the Oldenburg 6 Dec 1853 with his uncle's family. They are listed as F. (Friedrich?) Glameyer age 41, wife Christine G. 33, Christine G. 8, and Carl G. 4. They are listed as coming from Wilpke, Bremen, but may well have been Kleinenbremen. Carl Brandt was from the village of Nammen in Prussia and was listed as Carl Brand. Would love to have more information on this Glammeier/Glammeyer line as it links up with ours in Germany. Thanks, Jerry Cowley
