    3. John, Might I suggest that you sign up for the Digest version John, that way, you will only receive 1 e-mail a day. It's a great way also to wade through all the trivialized muck. :-) What you don't like, you can just "X" out. :-) Case in point #1> Your flaming statement to Laura (who by the way is neither confused, sensitive or bored)! Case in point #2> Your comment on the trial transcript which, in my opinion, was beyond a "smart a**" remark, and really not necessary. As to not much on our county having information at your library, have you ever thought to transcribe a census? How about some submissions to RootsWeb? Or IlGenweb? One should really not criticize unless one has contributed something. :-) It is also a shame that you do not want to interact with us. Some of the people on this list have fought for things and principles that you can only dream of. What little information is out there about Washington County had to be fought for, and there are some on this list who take offense to your criticism. Let me point out one thing though, there are many families here representing most of the smaller hamlets of Washington County, and it is to bad that you don't want the trivial things about your family or possibly the families that they interacted with. It is one thing to get a census reading, it is quite another to have a history and feeling for the ones that came before us. I say...."forge" ahead John >:-} And you can "quote" me to your compatriots. 3. Oh, my my, Miss Laura...are we not so sensitive/confused,bored??? My point remains. I logged on to subscribe just a mere 3 days ago. Even signed up for two other sites in Southern Illinois. Unfortunately, ILWASH has generated about, including today, 20 messages. Of the 20, only one was a digest. The others were of a personal nature. Obviously, this meant your site's addressing is too broad, or it's being misused. That is what I meant. Sure wish I had saved the subject messages for the court case. Wll I be sent the transcript? Well, I must go. Have to check my messages. Good luck on your research. Might mention I spend 2+ days per week at the No. Independence Genealogical Library here in Missouri. Your county is not well represented with information, so I signed onto this site. My G-grandfather was the village blacksmth in Nashville for 40 years. Have a great year. CC: compatriots John O.

    3. Way to go Laura. I've found this list to be both very beneficial for my search for family and at times very humorous, while truely getting to the heart of the matters. It is without a doubt the best and most lively list I belong to. John needs to lighten up and get a life. 3. This is what was told to me by my Aunt........ Spicey Kinyon married James E. Parks in Washington County 1854. This has been confirmed by Delores in a look up in the Looking Back series (Tanks Delores)........ Anyway, Aunt Freida says that on the tombstone of James E, it says......."Gone to Texas".....he never came back ...... On the 1880 census it states that Spicey is now a widow. So James was gone and dead by then. Aunt says that many men went to Texas during that time...... Question.......why did they go??? Too late for the Mexican war.....and it was after the Civil.... Anyone have a clue???? HUGS!! Marci

James Markham the younger also went to Texas but that would have been late 1880's. Maybe it was like going west. If you hear let me know. Interesting material. Thanks for sharing. Love this trivial stuff. It is how facts pop up. Putting the puzzle together. Sharing information with others who may have similar stuff and questions. What I want to know is what is not trivia? It is that tiny little fact that can sometimes piece the whole thing together. That is what happened when Capt. Earl Smith sent me all that material from the Nashville Newspaper on my family names. One tiny fact of a relationship between two people created a domino effect and that is how I had proof of how my great grandmother fitted into the John Phillips household. Later I proved it with other things. Keep on trivialing! :) Ava

    2. John writes: > Please exclude me from this trivia in future. Absolutely. We must keep it on a highly intellectual plane for John and his ilk. He simply can't be bothered with our nonsense. And why has no one asked John before what he considers important?! Here we are talking about stuff we deem important without even realizing it's trivial. I appreciate being shown the error. This has been incredibly thoughtless of all us little people. Perhaps we should run our comments by John first, in a type of pre-approval process. Have a Two Grand that's TOO Grand!
