Hi List, Anyone know anything about this Davis-Adams marriage (May 2, 1878 in Perry CO.) Margaret has roots in Perry CO. IL...her parents were John B. Davis and Susan King. Robert Adams was from Washington CO. IL. His mother may be a McCrossin or something like that. His father was ______Davis. Thanks, Nancy Helvey
I don't think he had to be a citizen back then to own property. My own GGG-Grandfather was not a citizen, but he did own property and he served in the military. His children were born here and hence automatically citizens ........... As far as the Washington County Courthouse doing a search through all the boxes on the Naturalizations.......goooooood luck. They won't. You would have to have the whole box copied and sent to you. Unless you know the exact date, (that he was naturlized) it could lead into some real money. That's why I suggested the first papers box. Here are the Record Box # 's just in case. NATURALIZATION RECORDS, BY DATE!!!!!! James McAfee, Senior, was in Pennsylvania during the 1830 census. By 1840 he was in Washington County, Illinois. He stayed there for the rest of his life. He is buried in Oakdale Cemetery. John, Hope this helps......... Naturalization papers are held in with the county at that time. You might want to request the file for "First Paper's" though. They usually contain all the information that is more to a genealogical resource than the actual Naturalization papers themself. the Probate "First Papers" box is # 114. Since the Nationization boxes are many, and cover many years I would go for copying the box of first papers. But if you know what year they were naturalized we have the box numbers.....they are all there in Washington County. Let me know. Would be glad to help you on this one........ I am working on the McAfee family. They lived in or around Oakdale. Some of their records have been found in Washington County and some in Randolph County. James McAfee, Sr., was a landowner. He was also naturalized, probably in the 1860s or 1870s. Can anyone help me know where to look for the land records or the naturalization records? Thanks John McAfee Jones

Is anyone researching the family of Thomas E. Jones & Margaret A. Cameron of Richview ? I have copies of 4 pages out of their family bible. Gives Their Marriage & Births, deaths & Marriages of their children plus their Birthdates. This is not my family and I don't remember who sent them to me. I will be glad to send copies to anyone researching this family. Delores Riley
I believe the State of Illinois made it a law in August of 1915. It took awhile to get everyone doing it. Bill -----Original Message----- From: Russell D. When did Washington County begin issuing death certificates? If it was before the IRAD date of 1919 (earliest they can get), where would one find the pre-1919 ones and how much would they charge for a mere photocopy? Russell Russell D. James Delta, Colorado [email protected]

What are the dates of those death records from Washington Co..... Ill? What is IRAD?
I thought I would let everyone know that in the last few days I have received four death certificates from Washington County through IRAD. So I guess they do have death certificates from them, at least some. Russell Russell D. James Delta, Colorado [email protected]
