    3. I have posted a school picture of the students of Gravel Hill School, Gran Cote Prairie, Washington County, Illinois, c. 1920. My grandfather, Cleon Stevenson, is marked in the photo. He was b. 1909, and appears to me to be about 10 years old in the picture, so I'm guessing the photo was from 1919 or 1920. The latest date the cemetery had been used for burial was the 1840's and the City determined no need to move bodies because all had deteriorated" Does anyone have any idea what cemetery this was? Who was buried there? Any idea where it was?? <<<<< ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I phoned an old timer in Nashville regarding the above cemetery, and was told by her that she believed a prominent man/doctor bought that land and cleared it of all indications that it was a cemetery, and built a house on it. She knew of no record ever being taken of the names in the cemetery, but said she thought the Historical Society had a couple of the original stones. She said she thought the cemetery had various names, and the only one she could recall might be "HENLEY" ???????? Might be possible that someone that lives closer to Washington County than myself might look into this further. Regards, Robert P.S. 3. Hi All: During my recent move from Nanaimo to Ladysmith BC, the software program I use to up load new "queries" to the Washington co web page has "crashed". Until I get a chance to repair this problem, I will be posting the most recent queries to the mail list as not to keep people waiting. I think it's only about six or seven in the last month. Periodically I received a query from someone with no signature (that persons name). When I write to them and ask them to put their first and last name on their query, they do not reply. This is unfortunate. A persons name is required to index the query in the data-base. Regards to all, Robert. 3. Hi all, well I thought the Census joke was ok. I live in the Deep south with much prejudice and have seen this same census fitted to Southern Louisiana, Cajuns, African Americans, Mexicans, etc. I quite being so easily offended when I started working on this research on my family. I have been cursed at, yelled at, told off, run off, sometimes talked to death, etc and am still kicking. If you don't have a thick skin it is sometimes hard to do Genealogical Work as you find some real doozies in your background. What I wish is for someone to come up with a Genealogical Census Form that we researchers could use to pass out to our families. I just love all those little stories that the old timers tell and some of the other facts that get passed over in a typical Census Report.
