Hi All, Does anyone claim the following marriage as belonging to their ancestors? > > Mathew G. ATCHISON to Lucretia BARCLAY in Washington County, IL. on 28 Dec 1837 recorded in Vol. A and p. 5 > I now believe that Mathew G. ATCHISON & Lucretia J. BARCLAY had 3 sons and 1 daughter. The daughter was Rebecca L. prob. born in 1849 (my great-grandmother). The 3 sons were: John S., Geo. Riley, and Robert H. I believe that John & Robert went to Collin Co., TX. and had families. I think that George Riley died in his 20's. I think that Robert was born in 1861, and that Lucretia died shortly thereafter. Mathew G. died in Nov. 1865, thereafter his sons had guardians. > Kay Chestnut in Oregon
Greetings All After six years I had to change to a new ISP and address. This will not effect the mail list, as it goes through Rootsweb. Over the next few days I will be moving all the Washington Co. files over to the new address. Some of them are there now if you wish to bookmark the new address. Robert Robert J. I checked the 1880 Census of Washington Co and there is no child Thomas or Wright Livesay in the entire county. or the state for that matter. I even checked all last names beginning with the letter L. This is an ALL NAME census index, so I cant figure out why he is not there.

Familysearch finds her as Elizabeth O. Livesay, b. 20 Dec 1864 in Washington Cty IL, m. Noah Alonzo Crane 16 May 1888 in Sedgwick Cty KS (Wichita area). She d. 27 June 1939 in Kansas City MO. I am sure she is related to the many Washington (and St. Clair?) Cty IL Livesays, but I do not have any particulars. Would like to find her connections. Would also like to trace back further the lineage of Noah Alonzo Crane. Familysearch finds him b. 12 Dec 1960 to parents, Isaac Crane and Nancy Shaw. Noah d. 30 July 1899 in Wichita, Sedgwick Cty KS. His mother Nancy Shaw is kin to the many Shaws, Bagbys, Hawkins who moved to IL from NC (Warren Cty, esp Halifax) and TN, and many originally from VA where they were very early settlers. Familysearch finds Isaac Crane b. 30 Oct 1825 in Belleville, St. Clair Cty IL, d. 13 April 1894 in Washington Cty. However, though I know there are many Cranes in the St. Clair and Washington Cty areas, I have not been able to trace Isaac Crane further back. Would like to connect him to other Cranes and trace from which area they migrated. (Other research suggests Cranes may derive from Norfolk Cty in England??)

I came across this on the first page of baptisms on the Perpetual Help film and happend to come across another name someone was asking about so I copied :) Barb
Try South Bend. There was a large Polish community there. Don't know the county, but you can probably find it easy enough. marge in NJ

Surnames: Nowak, Middlestadt, Wormek Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5g.2ADI/121 Message Board Post: I am trying to find the marriage location for Piotr Nowak, born 1838 in Kurnik Poland and Tekla Middlestadt, his second wife. According to what I have been told Piotr was living somewhere in Indiana when his first wife, Josepha Wormek Nowak, died. He then married the housekeeper, Tekla Middlestad. Piotr and Tekla's first child, Joseph, was born in Indiana, county unknown, in 1877. Their second child, Mary, my grandmother, was born in Radom, Washington County IL on Dec 25 1878. I think there may have been other Polish families who lived in Indiana prior to coming to Washington County IL. Since I don't know the county of residence in Indiana, I am thinking that perhaps if I can connect other Polish people in Indiana in 1873-1877 era who also came to Washington County IL perhaps I can locate the Nowaks through this association. If you had Polish family in Indiana between 1873-1877 and you know the county of residence, would you please share that info with me? Thank you.! I've hit that brick wall.

A entry I found on a Illinois marriage search website indicates they were married in Perry Co., Il (they have his name recorded as Kruss, but my family uses the Krusz spelling), but I don't know where he was from originally, or where they lived during their marriage. I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go from here on Andrew. He's somewhat of a mystery fellow! I'll see if I can find anything on St. Bruno. Thank you.

There are a few records of Krusz at St. Michaels. I have not yet run across Andrew as yet though. St. Bruno Chuch in Pickneyville, Perry, Illinois may have their marriage record sinse they lived in Perry County. St. Bruno was est in 1872. I am assuming your Krusz Family was Catholic? The films are available at Belleville Library and St. Louis County Special collections.

Andrew later disappeared while the family was living in southern Illinois.
Alright, upon further searching I found your family. They are in Bolo Township, Washington County, page 168a, household 170. Peter's last name was spelled Nowac, one of the last spellings I tried. Nowac, Peter June 1838 61 married 33 years Poland(ger) Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) immigrated to US in 1873 Naturalized farmer owns cannot read or write but can speak English Nowac, Teckla Sept 1848 51 married 33 years 12 children born, 10 alive Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) immigrated to US in 1873 cannot read, write, or speak English. Nowac, Joseph Jan 1878 22 Indiana " John May 1882 18 Illinois " Dora Sept 1883 16 " " Frank Jan 1885 15 " " Martha Mar 1887 13 " " George April 1889 11 " " Josie Mar 1893 7 " All the children can read, write, and speak English. It appears that Peter and Teckla married in Poland c. 1867 then moved to the US in 1873. 10 children still alive, there are 7 at home, so 3 kids probably older than Joseph somewhere. Here's a possibility for perhaps a brother of Peter. Also in Bolo Township, page 163. Martin Nowak 55 July 1844. married 33 years Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) immigrated to US in 1873, same as Peter naturalized farmer owns can read write and speak English Wife--Katy 54 May 1846 12 children 9 alive Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) Poland(Ger) immigrated 1873 cannot read write or speak English Children (all born in Illinois)--Joseph M.(24) July 1875; John T.(14) July 1885; Martin W.(12) Nov 1887; Frank(9) April 1891; Mary(7) July 1892. There is a Walter Nowak in Dubois Township, Washington County who could possibly be a son of Peter's first marriage. He was born in Poland in 1864. His immigration year is 1874 so that doesn't quite match with Peter though. I wish I could help you with the 1880 Indiana census but I have no index for it so quite impossible to blind searches.
Just to let everyone know, the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of St. Louis website http://www.stlcathcem.com/ can now be searched by lot. When you locate an individual, you can click on the lot number within their information and all burials in that lot will be shown. >From St. Louis List
I'm having some trouble finding them in 1900 but they are in Bolo Township, Washington County on the 1920 census. Peter Nowak head 83 immigrated to the US in 1879 born in Poland Tillie " wife 72 " " " George " son 30 born in Illinois Lynne Evans
