Shirley Louise (Bower) Draege December 22, 1935 ~ November 10, 2019 (age 83) Obituary Shirley Louise Draege, 83, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away on November 10, 2019 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born December 22, 1935 in Ashley, Illinois to the late Jacob and Alice (McMillen) Bower. She married Eugene Draege on June 5, 1954 at Union Christian Church in Ashley, Illinois. They were blessed with sixty-five years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 14, 2019. Shirley is survived by her sons, Steven Draege and wife, Cindy of Woodlawn, Illinois and Daniel Draege of Richview, Illinois and special friend, Ginger Kehrer of Woodlawn, Illinois; daughter, Monica Braddy and husband, Wayne of Woodlawn, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Braddy, April Rowe and husband, Mark, Trisha Draege and Ashley Hope, Ashleigh Settle and husband, Travis, and Kristina Draege; great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Cadyn, and Coltyn Settle; brother, Dale Bower of Decatur, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Myong Suk Bower of Tower Hill, Illinois. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her infant son, David; brother, Roger Bower; and sister-in-law, Shirley M. Bower. Shirley was blessed with sixty-five years of marriage to her high school sweetheart. She worked alongside her husband running the family farm while raising three children. Shirley assisted in baby sitting and caring for her five grandchildren and several other neighborhood children. She loved to cook and care for friends and neighbors in need. She thoroughly enjoyed attending church, the quilting days at Fouts Church, and watching her birds. Shirley loved church, life and family. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with ---- Mr. Jerry Wilson and Mr. Jamie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Cemetery in Ashley, Illinois.     3. Eugene Draege JUNE 28, 1931 ~ SEPTEMBER 14, 2019 (AGE 88) Eugene Draege, 88, of Woodlawn, Illinois passed away at 9:55 A.M. September 14, 2019 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born June 28, 1931 in Richview, Illinois to Emma Draege. He married Shirley Louise Bower on June 5, 1954 in Union Christian Church in Ashley, Illinois. In addition to his wife of sixty-five years, Eugene is survived by his sons, Steven Draege and wife, Cindy of Woodlawn, Illinois and Daniel Draege of Richview, Illinois and special friend, Ginger Kehrer of Woodlawn, Illinois; daughter, Monica Braddy and husband, Wayne of Woodlawn, Illinois; grandchildren, Michael Braddy, April Rowe and husband, Mark, Trisha Draege and special friend, Ashley Davis, Ashleigh Settle and husband, Travis, and Kristina Draege; and great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Cadyn, and Coltyn Settle. Eugene was a longtime member of White Swan Baptist Church and current member of Fouts Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. Eugene loved spending time with his family and will be missed greatly. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Cemetery in Ashley, Illinois. Muellecker, 66, a resident of Odin, Illinois and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia, IL. She was born February 24, 1953 in McLeansboro, IL, the daughter of Robert and Helen (Snyder) Muellecker. She was a home maker. Sharon is survived by her nephew, Ray Niepoetter of Odin, IL; and two great-nieces: Mariah (Nick) Renfrow of Walnut Hill, IL and Marissia Niepoetter of Centralia, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Loretta Niepoetter. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashley City Cemetery. He was born May 7, 2019 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Russell Robert and Katlynn Rose (Bodine) Henry who survive in Radom. In addition to his father and mother, Mason Lee is survived by his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Ben Jolly of Dahlgren and Andrew and Sheri Bodine of Bonnie; paternal grandparents, Darla Henry and Leroy Stewart of Mount Vernon; great-grandparents, Charlotte Beal of Waltonville, Kenny and Linda Smith of Irvington, Martha and Jim Bodine of Dix, and Juanita Henry of Mount Vernon; godparents, Cody and Acanda Scott of Mount Vernon; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mason was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Paul Beal, Charles Henry, Dorothy Davis, and Gary Jolly. Mason is loved beyond measure by all of his family and friends and will never be forgotten. He will be missed dearly by all who knew of him.     3. The ancestor who has me stumped is Mary or Maria (Herrmann) Grossmann. I think she died in Washington County between 1870 and 1880. She was married to Johan (John) Grossmann. They are on the 1870 census for Washington County. By 1880 the father has moved back to St. Louis, leaving the two youngest girls with unrelated families. On the 1880 census their daughter, my gg grandmother, is listed as Malia Groszman in Covington, Washington Co.. Amalia Marie (Grossmann) Pries was born in Mascoutah July 10, 1866. Her father was Swiss; they were Lutheran. Her mother is listed variously, but was most likely from Baden. Her father was a butcher by trade.     3. The ancestor who has me stumped is Mary or Mara (Herrmann) Grossmann. I think she died in Washington County between 1870 and 1880. She was married to Johan (John) Grossmann. They are on the 1870 census for Washington County. By 1880 the father has moved back to St. Louis, leaving the two youngest girls with unrelated families. On the 1880 census their daughter, my gg grandmother, is listed as Malia Groszman in Covington. Amalia Marie Grossmann's father was Swiss. They were Lutheran. Her mother is listed variously, but was most likely from Baden. Her father was a butcher by trade. Hello.   My great-grandparents, James and Mary (Anderson) Cuthbertson, farmed near Richview in the 1860s and 1870s.  Her sister's family, Alexander and Margaret (Anderson) Gemmell lived near Hoyleton around the same time.  Both families were of Scots origin, and both later moved to southeast Kansas.  Various other relatives lived over near Sparta and Marissa.   My interest is to find the church my great-grandparents belonged to.  The Gemmells were part of a small Congregational Church at Hoyleton, and later were Presbyterians in Kansas.  We've no information on where the Cuthbertsons were members, and would have had their children baptized.  In Kansas they, too, were Presbyterians.   The Cuthbertsons' first child, Margaret Jane Cuthbertson, was born in 1861, and died in infancy.  She is said to have been buried in a cemetery near Richview.  Their other seven children were born near Richview, and accompanied them to KS in 1877.   Ken Cuthbertson   In a message dated 5/30/2018 9:35:18 PM Mountain Standard Time, ricksbookshelf@gmail.com writes:   Hi everyone!
