On the registry his date of birth is different. I have 2-11-1846, his wife was Laura Bell Leonard Barger, born 03-26-1857. Yes he was very small and did try to enlist many times, I have a tin photo of him in his uniform and he sure was small, and was very pro Lincoln. He fought in the battle of Chickamauga You have that he had a son, my Grandmothers name was Helen Bernice Barger Jones, born 10-29-1890. My great grandfather lived in Danville, Il and is buried there in a family plot which I visited a number of years ago with my Mother before the Alzheimer became full blown. Is the Martin James Barger you have listed the same as the one I am questioning. Mine did live in Newell county, which happens to be my mothers middle name since she was a descendent of the person that the county was named after. Part of the John Newell Allen family. Believe she is buried in the Rose Cemetery. Helen married Ira Richard Jones born 11-7-1887, died around 1928, they had two children Ira R Jones born 2-17-16, Nancy (will call her) and Ira died 1-31-1987, I know Martin was married three times and will see if my aunt knows if Mary was one of the wifes.
