I discovered him while I was researching Lincoln's activities as a lawyer in Danville and in Vermilion County. The two references I found involved cases in 1850 and in 1851. After this time Lincoln's partner was Lemon or Lamon and they had an office in Danville. I was trying to make a connection between this early law partner of Lincoln's and another lawyer named John H. Sconce. John H. Sconce married Emily A. Palmer abt. 1849 Danville. She was the daughter of Norman D. Palmer and the neice of Asa R. Palmer both of Danville. The John H. Sconce family is found in the 1850 census of Vermilion county where he is listed as a lawyer. John H. Sconce and family emigrated to Oregon Territoy in 1852. John H. Sconce had one child, a daughter, Anna B. Sconce, 1 year of age in the census. In Anna's obituary it is said her father died 1856 in The Dalles, Wasco Co., Oregon, however, no periodicals exist from the time period nor is there any record of his burial in the area at the Wasco Co. Court House.
