When we finally stumbled across his marriage certificate in Iowa, we were startled to see the listing of William's parents. Does anyone have any information on this couple? Was William Hicks illegitimately born and later adopted? We know William came to consider a Cornelius Jordan as his father later in life. Cornelius and family did pass through Illinois around this time, but I've been unable to locate Cornelius Jordan and family in the Danville area around 1868. Any help would be much appreciated.

Cornelius Jordan and Carrie Hix were married in Vermilion County Illinois on 17 Feb 1870.
