My Grandfather John Newell Allen is related to William Irvin Allen, who came to Vermillion co., where he was treasurer and justice of the peace, captain 25th Infantry Civil war, sold land in Grant Township, Vermillion co., to Thomas Hoopes (for Hoopeston was named). Married Emily Newell daughter of James Newell. I also have information o the first Asaph Allen who appears on John Burks enlistment roll ending November 30, 1750 there is much more.
