" Bettie" Bratton and John Westfall, I have the following information: Desire E. Bratton, b. 4 May 1850 in Rossville Twp., Vermilion Co., IL. and died btw. 1910-1920 in Lawrence Twp., Douglas Co., KS. She was the daughter of Adam Bratton, who was b. 3 Jan 1823 in KY, d. 27 Dec 1888 in Montgomery Co., IN. and Mary Ann Grenard, b. 19 Apr 1829 in KY, d. 21 Oct 1903 in Montgomery Co., IN. Desire was my 1st cousin, 3 times removed. Her mother, Mary Ann, was the sister of my GGGrandmother, Elizabeth Ann Grenard, who married Enos T. Westfall. Desire married John Westfall in Vermilion Co., IL on 18 Feb 1869. John Westfall was the 4th son of George Westfall, who was b. 26 July 1820, in Dayton, Darke Co., OH and d. 8 March 1900 in Coal Creek, Montgomery Co., IN; and Martha Ann Houser, who was b. 28 May 1823 in KY and d. 10 Mar 1861 in Coal Creek, Montgomery Co., IN. John was born May 1846 in Coal Creek, Montgomery Co., IN and died 1 Jan 1923 in Lawrence Twp, Douglas Co., KS. John was also my 1st cousin 3 times removed; his father, George, was the brother of my GGGrandfather, Enos T. Westfall. So, I am related to both John Westfall and Desire Bratton Westfall. Their children were all born in Lawrence, Douglas Co., KS: Charles, b. abt. 1870 Walter, b. abt. 1872 Eddie, b. abt. 1874 Minnie, b, abt. 1877 Guy Earle, 12 Jan 1884, died May 1966 in Kansas City, Wyandotte Co., KS Anna M., Nov. 1888 Jennie, 1891 Eddie married Jella Unknown and they had a son, Walter C. in about 1904 in Lawrence, Douglas Co., KS Guy Earle married Regina Unknown and they had a son, Vincent, born abt. 1917 in KS. Desire and her siblings were: Bratton: John M., b. abt. 1848 in Coal Creek, Montgomery Co., IN. Desire E. "Bettie", b. 4 May 1850, Rossville, Vermilion Co. IL., d. bwt. 1910-1920, Lawrence, Douglas Co., KS. Barbara, b. abt. 1853, Vermilion Co., IL. Emily Co., b. 16 Sep 1854, Rossville, Vermilion Co., IL, d. 29 Nov. 1888.
