My descendant is Moses Porter the younger brother of your G G G Grandmother Emma Porter who was William Leeks Porter's mother. I understand through a lady who also contacted me who is also descended from William Leeks Porter that his biological father was called William Leeks. But I don't know if William Leeks Porter's mother Emma Bennett nee Porter was married when she had your G G Grandfather or if William Leeks died or something else happened. Your G G Grandfather sounds as though he was a very nice man by all accounts. I went to Malmesbury, Wiltshire where Emma was born @ 1838 and the Porter family are from, last week and took some pics. It is a delightful little old market town and has a great atmosphere. So if you would like me to send them to you. Please post me your email address or if mine is on here please email me. Either way I so am glad the Porter name continued down the line to the states otherwise I would never have been able to trace my roots. We have and have had quite a few William Porter's down the line our side but not a Mike. Kind regards, Louise Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My Grandpa is William James Porter, son of William Leeks Porter Jr. I've been spending the last year (off and on) trying to find William's Bio-dad. I know that George Bennett (sp?) was a good man, and treated William like his own son (so said my grandfather before he passed away) but I've always wanted to know who "Leeks" is. If my last name should have been Leeks, I'd kinda like to know who my Great x3 grandfather was. Do you have any info on him at all? Any information would be helpful Thanks, Mike Porter Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Can you tell me where it is? Sorry for posting on this board but I could not find your address on your sites. If I can readily find the pictures I have a couple of Jones and Barger from Danville. Could you use them? Last fall I was up that way and wanted to go to Leonard and Newell Cemetery after spending some time at the library. But it poured and I did not get to either. I may this fall hopefully. Thanks for your time Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
