    1. [ILVERMIL-L] Thanks
    2. Thanks to everyone that answered me. I was really wondering if anyone was on the list. It was so quiet. I know that Danville has a wonderful library but I can't get to it and I can't get the family there to do anything for me. They think genealogy is crazy!. I would buy census books, etc. But couldn't find a place to get them. I had written to the Illiana Genealogical Society, but their answer wasn't too helpful. I married Garfield L. Johnson in Ohio, so I never knew his family well. He was born August. 1924, we married in 1958 and had three sons. So far from his brother I have been able to find out that their Mother was Bertha Mae Wagle, b.1901 in Westville and father Peter Johnson b.1897 in Westville. He thinks Bertha's parents were Harvey and Laura B. Wagle and Peter's parents were Richard and Florence Johnson. There is nothing here that would help me with Illinois so any help anyone could gvie me would be more than I have. Lynn

    1. [ILVERMIL-L] Vinegar Hill in Vermilion Co.
    2. Diana M. Nelson
    3. My grandparents lived at Vinegar Hill and I was wondering-Has anyone else heard of it. My cousin found the Hollowell family homestead 1/2 mil north of Henning,IL where my great grandparents lived-- but there is no hill in site. So it must be someplace else in the Co. Why I need to know is -my mother's oldest brother died on that farm and may be buried there. Also if the Hollowell homestead was really a homestead-how do I get a copy of that? I know it has been done on other homesteads but I can't remember the address? Thank you Diana in Alaska You have a history book written in your genes.

I was stuck in St. Louis for some time with a long lost line of mine, so I tried your tip and it worked great. I had a copy of an obituary dated in 1951 in less than 30 days. What made this so helpful was the man died in Phoenix, Arizona but had lived most of his life in St. Louis so thinking they might have been notified back home, I tried it and it worked. 3. Dear Hollowells, Bryan Hollowell, my second cousin traveled to Rossville, IL (in Vermillion Co-I hope) to bury his father,Clancey Clyde Hollowell at Mann's Chapel. While there he took pictures of all the Hollowell graves in the grave yard. Bryan got them developed thru Seattle film Works(SFW) and they can be downloaded FREE for a short while. I hate to tell you I can't get them downloaded yet but my sister did so I know you can do it. I am still working on it. You will also need to download Photoworks Free also. I can convert SFW now to JPEGView -- I already asked Bryan if it was okay and he said go ahead and share these Hollowell pictures. FREE!!!!!!! Anyone else have relatives there??? Dead ones? 1. [ILVERMIL-L] CUMRINE/CRUMRINE
    2. helen young
    3. Hello, I am trying to find information about my CUMRINE/CRUMRINE ancestors in Vermilion County. In particular, I need information on my great Grandfather Charles Larch Cumrine who was born in Eaton, Preble County Ohio in April, 1858. He married Cornelia Walker in 1882 in Onarga, in Iroquois County. They had 8 children. My grandfather Oscar was the 6th and was born in Vermilion county in 1893, as were the two younger children Marry (this is how it appears in our records) and Violet. Cornelia died in Vermilion County in 1943 and is buried in Gordon Cemetery. But no one seems to know what happened to Charles. He shows up in the 1900 census. I don't know if he is in Gordon Cemetery with Cornelia. My grandfather was a tight-lipped fellow, and my mother and uncle never knew Charles and don't remember Oscar talking about him. My mother has an impression that he may have been killed, but doesn't know if that meant murdered or was killed in an accident. I have a long run of the Illiana Genealogist, and the only reference to a Crumrine I see mentioned is in the index for Vol 24, page 29 -- one of the few issues we are missing. Can anyone check on that page for me? So, if anyone can give me any help on Charles Larch CUMRINE, I'd be grateful. Thanks, Jerry Young Austin, TX Vermilion County Surnames: YOUNG, CUMRINE/CRUMRINE, WALKER, COX, CRAWFORD, LEONARD, MILNER/MILLINDER/MILLER/MILINER, BRADEN, FIREBAUGH
