3. Below is a copy of part of a message to this list a few weeks ago. Would appreciate know of anyone's experience with this site. They charge $1.00 for the first 5 pages copied and $.08 for additional copies from paper and $.10 for those from micro-film. While I don't have their web address with handy, you can find a link to them on the first page of the USGenWeb site for IL < http://www.usgenweb.org/il>. There is a ".PDF" file (Adobe Acrobat Reader) which tells which IRAD to write to for the various areas (Vermilion is at ISU) and what records are available for each county. <snip> Also, payment is on the honor system -- they sent me the copies and told me what I needed to send in payment rather than sending me the bill and waiting until it was received to send the copies. I strongly suggest that you try that. "

3. Thank you so much for the Cotton information. I have been stumped about William Edgar's birth being in Danville. Is Danville the County Seat? Perhaps the war caused them to return to Harrisburg, because John Henry is a veteran. He was a prisoner of war for a period of time too. I just can't figure out any connections until I get his birth record. After I find out his father's birthplace, then I can go further. If you need anything from Randolph County, let me know. Thanks again!! Velda

3. Allison, could you please do me a favor? William Edgar Cotton was born in Danville, IL on 6 Oct 1868. What in the world were they doing in Danville? His parents were John Henry and Milly Ellen Jones. They are buried in Harrisburg, Illinois. I wrote to Illiana G.H.S. to get the 12 pages about the Cottons in Vermilion Co., but didn't really want the info if it didn't contain their names. It did not, so the researcher, Kathy Butcher, did not send it or cash my check. She says they was no Cotton in the 1860 nor was John Henry in the 1870 census either. Can you tell me how much a birth certificate (unnotarized) would cost? I would love to get one for Wm. Edgar. What I am asking is for you to call the courthouse to find out the cost of the birth certificate and I will write to get it right away. Thank you, Velda Moore

1. Re: [ILVERMIL-L] Mann's Cemetery/TN LOOK-UPS
2. Kenneth Womack
3. Sorry to hear abut your surgery but I guess it is our gain as I sure need some help in trying to find the burial place of Evane/Evans PHELAN. Records indicate he died between 1828 and 1838 in Vermillion Co but burial place unknown. If anyone else has cemetery records, I'd sure love a lookup in those also. Desperately seeking this guy. I have the 1850 TN (all counties) census. WILL DO LOOKUPS in this book for anyone on list. Any assistance is very much appreciated. 2. Hi Pat, Mann's Chapel and Cemetary is S. of Rossville on IL RT. 1, about 2 or 3 miles, on the east side of the road. The name of the crossroad is Mann's Chapel Road. It's a pretty little chapel that you can see from the highway. Scott Pittman rsprgv@aol.com

1. [ILVERMIL-L] Vermilion County Board Undergoing Changes!
2. An updated research list has been posted to our Vermilion County Board. As county coordinator, I send this entire listing to anyone sending queries from ILVermil-L to the person via email directly as a matter of course, or send them the link for the county. I'll also be posting my own photos of all cemeteries in the site, since most are really beautiful cemeteries and say a lot for Vermilion County! The Vermilion county site will be undergoing some major changes soon, as I have learned how to update the site, add links, photos, etc. via HTML and AOLpress. If you have any photos that you think should be considered, please send them to me! I'll also be linking/posting maps, etc as I get time and my Darvocet wears off! Here's the latest unamazing so-far version of our page.. Vermilion Co. Page

2. I have a listing of the burials at Mann's Cemetery. Let me know the names you want looked up and I can do that for you as I am off work for 4 weeks due to surgery and am going nuts with nothing to do! Mann's Chapel is the most beautiful cemetery around, in my own personal opinion...it is North of Danville on the right hand side of the road and has one of the most fantastic well-preserved churches on the cemetery. If my silly scanner was working, I'd send you a photo...it is breathtaking!

2. Resurrection Cemetery >From Danville go east on Main Street until you reach Buchanan Street. Trun right and go east to Perrysville Road. Follow Perrysville Road until you cross over Interstate 74. Turn at the Intersection of Edgewater Road and Perrysville Road and follow the signs to Resurrection Cemetery. Resurrection or St. Patrick's Cemetery is located in Danville Township and has been used as the Catholic burial ground for many years. Also you may want to visit the Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society 215 West North Street P.O. 3. Would someone with access to death records lookup Rose Elizabeth (Thies) Dowling for me? She was born around 1917. Her husband, John "Jack" Dowling died in 1993 and according to the obit she was still alive. If this is correct and if she has died it would have been somewhere between 1993 and the present. I am planning a trip to Danville to find their graves and would like to know if she has passed on. If the death record states where she is buried that would be of great help also. Thanks in advance, Dianne (Thies) Titus wdt@spitfire.net
