Hi Art, Don't know about death index, but I do know that if you go to the IRAD site on the IL GenWeb that they have a downloadable (in .PDF (Acrobat Reader) format) which tells what records and dates are available for each county and to which IRAD that you need to write to. Scott
Hi list, I have a question. Does anyone know where the book is kept for the poor house of Vermilion Co., Ill.? Any information on this would be helpful, like the history and why it came about and when it was no longer used. I have just found out that I had some family in there, by the name of George Watts, Mary, Harrison and Gertrude I'm looking for any records of them, need to know where the records are kept so I can get some copies of it, if at all possible. Thanks, Debbie

I would like to verify if the following couple were married in Vermilion co. on this date. Can anyone help me? SMALLEY, Benjamin and TRUAX, Elizabeth m. 26 Aug 1841 in Virmilion co. Thank you, Lisa MORAY-CGA (Ray co., MO) INPORTER (Porter co., IN) MARGISON
Julia Ann Henthorne, February 04, 1844, Illinois, d February 04, 1899, Georgetown, Vermillion County, Illinois, married John Brazelton, b November 24, 1841 Vermilion County, Illinois, d January 08, 1924 Danville. Illinois. Marriage date July 04, 1865 Vermilion County, Illinois, Source: Marriage License Abstracts. Vermilion County, Illinois 1853-1874. Volume 2. Compiled by The Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society. Danville, Illinois, 1985 Dates for birth and death of John Brazelton and Julia Ann Henthorne Are from Pearl Ingle's records (p. 44) and an FGS provided by Lee Patten. In the 1880 census of Georgetown Township, John is listed as being age 38 (i.e. born ca. 1841/42) and Julia Ann is age 36 (i.e. born ca. 1843/44). The "Marriage License abstracts, Vermilion County, Illinois," Vol 2, 1853-1874 lists the marriage date of John Brazelton (father: Jacob Brazelton) and Julia Ann Henthorn as 4 July 1865. John made his will on 21 July 1921 and died in the National Home for Veterans in Danville, Illinois on 8 January 1924. In his will he mentioned three of his children (Elmer, Josephine, and Francis), but there is no mention of his wife Julia Ann (who died in 1889), or his youngest son William (who died in 1884). This is unverified information. Art > Art, > Can you give me the date for John Brazelton married Julia Ann Henthorne? Is there a death index for Vermillion County for the period 1840-1916? Would IRAD have the death certificates for individuals who died during that period? Art

Art I also have the book for 1853-1874 if you need further lookups. Using those of us who are willing on the list is a heck of a lot cheaper and created less headaches than getting in touch with the Genealogical Society. Lana Arthur Maxwell wrote: > > Yes I sure do. Lana, Could you look up some more names? I am trying to find James Wagle and Elizabeth Nichols marriage date. Also Richard C. Johnson and Florence Riley. May be listed as William or Charles. Maybe I just didn't see them, but what are the dates that your abstracts cover?
