    1. Re: [ILVERMIL] Obituaries - Cotton
    2. Hi Velda, If no one on the list has immediate access to Vermilion County obits, I would suggest you get in touch with the Danville Public Library. They have Vermilion County/ Danville newspapers on microfilm from 1833 to present. They ask that you contact them by phone (217) 477-5228,fax (217) 477-5230, or by writing to them at Archives Department, Danville Public Library 319 N. Vermilion, Danville, IL 61832. I believe the cost is $3.00 for per request, and an SASE, which includes up to 3 microfilmed pages. They may not have much more than a death "notice" because of the year of death, but you may want to ask if they can search another 2 weeks or so afterwards for any "thank you's" from the family that might have been published. Hope this helps, and good luck in your research. Teri

    3. Does anyone have access to obituaries? I need one for 1849. William K. Cotton died 24 Dec 1849. Were the newspapers put on micro-film for that time period? Who would have access to these? I did develolp a kind of theory about Birdie, to the effect that she was in Reuben's house because her mother had died in childbirth and an aunt and uncle were tapped to care for her. I never knew of other siblings of course. I looked for Birdie in 1910, but never could find what happened to her as Reuben died in 1904 and Anna in 1908. When I couldn't find her in 1920 I guessed that she had married. It will be interesting to hear what you can tell me. John Golladay, my grandfather, husband of Rosetta, disappeared. Aside from a picture or two and one of his son, Wallace, who died young, I have little on him but the census reference to being born in Ohio.

I am very interested in the potential Indian mixture for Anna (myggrandma) J. Oliver, so would really be interested in anything you may have developed along those lines. I have quite a bit on her later life in the area of Stuttgart AR. I have also been looking for a tie to her or to her Ramsey husband with the Golladay line. I did find Golladays in Vermilion once, but can't find a link that would put Reuben and/or Anna in line as an aunt or uncle to Birdie Golladay of Stuttgart. Nevertheless, she does so appear on the 1900 census for Stuttgart. email me at [email protected], if you get this. Thanks. ron

Also in the house their sons and a remaining daughter, Rosetta. Rosetta later married John Golladay who was on the same census as John Golidy, boarder, rr employee, in AR county, They were my grandparents. She married a Ruhrdanz after the 1930 census. If you should happen to run across her Obit I hope it might give me some info on her first husband Otto Phillips. He is the guy I am really trying to track down.
