Dennis William H. Lee died 1-14-1855 Box 38 Case #8 is what I have in my data base. Now these records may be at the IGHS library and they may not. We just got more microfilm and I'm not sure of the box number we just received and others were just sent for microfilming. I suggest you call or write Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society 215 W. North St. Danville, Ill 61834 or 217-431-8733. IF there is a will, the cost is $1 per page, if not then cost .25 cents per page. Again I must remind you that some files are rather lengthy and can be costly. You must pick and choose what you want. Every bill against the estate is there and a receipt for paying each bill is there. ANd believe me they were from 50 cents to dollars. The Inventory of the estate is interesting and also the bill of sale as this may lead you to other relatives. Sometime land records are included. Also we just discovered with the first boxes done that they are negatives, thus the copy will be black with white lettering. Good luck Granny

I checked the website for Pape Funeral Home and found lots of good information. When I checked the list of cemeteries there were two listed for Stearns one in Muncie and another north of Odgen. I found a William M. Morris buried in Stearns Cemetery, but I don't have a clue which cemetery is correct. I find him living in Oakwood Twp., in the 1870 and 1880 census. He died in 1886. Anyone have any idea which is the right cemetery? Is there a Oak Ridge Cemetery in Catlin and Danville? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sharon AZ

It is located northeast of Olivet in Vermilion county, Illlinois. I was in the area several weeks ago and stopped to look it up. I had been there once before about 15 years ago but some of the landmarks that I noted so that I could find it again are no longer there. Is it kept up or has it become overgrown?
Hi Annie, I haven't yet tried to prove it, but I suspect that all four of those lines go back to at least PA ... probably the Berks-Montgomery-Schuykill areas where I know for sure the Ramseys do. Gr Grandf Reuben Ramsey b. 1842 in Reading, PA was in the union army and came to Vermilion Co after the war was over. Family story is that he met a pal named George Guthrie while serving and that they came up the rivers to the Danville area together. That makes me think that George Guthrie was already from Illinois. When they got there they met and married sisters of the Swank family. Reuben m. Mary and George m. Sarah. (Although I know Ramseys connected to PA, I have only found Swank and Guthrie surnames back there and haven't connected them as yet) After one child, probably from childbirth issues, Mary Swank Ramsey died. In a year or so Reuben married Anna Oliver of the county. (large family of Olivers there too) Reuben is alone on the 1870 and with his second family on the 1880. George G and Sarah are also nearby. By 1900 Reuben and Anna and George and Sarah have relocated to Stuttgart, AR, for whatever reason. The guys remained friends, not to say that Anna and Sarah did. Reuben's oldest girl eventually m. George's oldest son so our lines continued to tangle. In 1900 there is a new born niece with Reuben, BIRDIE GOLLADAY. I have seen that surname on Vermilion email but have yet to find the one who is the father and don't know if Birdie is a niece because a parent is a Reuben sibling or if it was Anna to whom the parent was related. This is probably more than you wanted to know, but you can see why I haven't done the backup work on Guthrie lines just yet. -----Original Message----- From: Bob Johnson <[email protected]> Sent: Sep 23, 2004 11:51 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILVERMIL] Re: Oakwood, Illinois Who are your Guthries? Carol, Thanks so much for the reply and the information. The only information I had on John was that he was b: ca: 1850 in MO. I've been trying to find out just what happened to Fletcher & Anne, but have had no luck so far. I'm a descendant of Fletcher's sister (Catharine Lemley Rutledge, 1813-1890) and her husband, Robert MICHAEL (1810-1888.)
