Cornelius Jordan and Carrie Hix were married in Vermilion County Illinois on 17 Feb 1870. Rossville Historical & Genealogical Society My g-grandfather was William Hicks, who was born in Danville around 1868. When we finally stumbled across his marriage certificate in Iowa, we were startled to see the listing of William's parents. Does anyone have any information on this couple? Was William Hicks illegitimately born and later adopted? We know William came to consider a Cornelius Jordan as his father later in life. Cornelius and family did pass through Illinois around this time, but I've been unable to locate Cornelius Jordan and family in the Danville area around 1868. Any help would be much appreciated.

To Mark J. Mondt Interested in your Moses Hicks. I have a Moses Hicks b. 1795 Virginia, son of Samuel; wife is Susan Childress, that is a branch off my husband's direct line. That is all I do have on him unfortunately. Moses had a brother Steen who also had a son by the name of Moses b. 1848 Indiana, again that is all I have on him. Anything that might fit? My husband's family is from around Owen County, Indiana and some of them moved to Monticello and White Heath, Ill area. My husband's family lived around Broadlands, Champaign Co., IL and Rankin, Vermilion County, IL, then moved to Hoopeston, Vermilion Co., IL after his dad retired from dairy farming. If you know any siblings of Moses, I could check to see if this is the same branch. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3g.2ADI/4493.1.1 Message Board Post: I'm trying to locate the whereabouts of my ggg grandfather--William T. Craig---during the 1900 & 1910 census records. He was in Texas on the 1880 census; in an OLD SOLDIERS HOME in Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1920 census. He reported on his pension records that he arrived in ARK in 1896; but I can't find him in ARK during 1900/1910. Now, I did see a William Craig in the Danville Soldiers home and the age is correct, but the birthplace is different. That record says he was born "Ireland" and my guy is Irish, but my records are indicating birth in W. Tenn or Kentucky. I thought maybe learning more about that William Craig in Danville might be of help to me. Also, it's possible that my William Craig had ties to Illinois---I'm not sure of those ties yet, either---but I'm looking anyway.

The only information I have that might help you is that I belive that Green Pittman is buried at Old Liberty Cemetery, Brownstown, IL. That is in Sefton Township. Much of my family still lives in the area and I have tried to find Old Liberty Cemetery before but, if I remember correctly, it is in the middle of the woods and has been swallowed up so that you cannot find the graves anymore. However, I have never done a record search in the area. You might try that. Good luck!
Sorry Velda, I am waiting for what is probably the same document you sent for. Sorry it did not enlighten your knowledge of Willam K. his heirs, etc., etc. If the document I sent for, has more to offer, I will advise you at once. I, too, am very confused, I have assumed that Isaac was a sibling of William K. A shadow of doubt was cast by another Cotton researcher who had good evidence that Isaac Cotton was the son of Isaac Cotton and Hannah O'Neal, not Robert Cotton and Hannah Howard. Hopefully someone on this LIST may have the answer or direct us in the right direction. Lois

If there was a will, Then there would be an Executor. Probate records do not always contain a will. The person may have had property and his assets were probated. Granny
