    3. Thanks Granny, Considering they were 43 and 44 in 1870 would make these two just the right age if you factor in the nominal wedding age of about 20 for males. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, January 10, 2005 10:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILVERMIL] Help with birth - parent info - Willis Hymer I found a marriage in Morgan Co, KY for Asa Hyner & Katherine Sadler 4-14-1846. 2. I have seen reference to an Asa Hymer and Catherine Sadler but it did not give any other information on dates or children so I left it alone. But I did find them in the 1850 Morgan Co Census. And an Asa Hymer in the 1840 Bath Co KY census. So I believe we are headed on the right tract for this HYMER family researcher. Kristie Setser Keeping Genealogy Free..... 3. It would almost have to be them. Armigilda could well have been the first-born, married and out of the house in 1870 or perhaps died earlier. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2005 11:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILVERMIL] Help with birth - parent info - Willis Hymer 1850 Morgan Co KY Census is an Asa and Catherine Hymer. 2. Have you looked in the census on line that is on the Vermilion County Web page? Welcome to Vermilion County, Illinois - UsGenWeb Project The only problem with this is that the handwriting is interpreted by yet another transcriber. I found Wilis Hymon & Ada in the 1900 Georgetown Twp.States Ada had 6 children 4 living he is a miner. 1910 I found them in St. Joseph Twp in Champaign Co, Ill. 1880 I found 3 Hymer families in Clay Co, MO all born in KY. One was a 58 year old Willis Hymer You must get creative in the spelling of the names. Willis could be Willie, Will, Wm. William & Hymer could be Heimer, Hamer, Hammer, Hymon. the familysearch.org (Mormon site) has the 1880 census available. There isn't an 1890 census, it was destroyed. City Directories fill for that time period. Children that I could make out were Marie 8, 1881 P. R.? 6-1890 Son ? 1892 William B. 2, 1900 1910 I have Henry 18, Willis 10, Clellie 7 & Theodore 4 & James 2 States had 7 children 7 living Also Otto H. Hymer 21 working as servant in another household in champaign Co. Good Luck

    3. Thanks so much. He may have been in Champaign County in 1870 and even born there. He would have been aprox. 8 yrs old. The only info I've seen so far is IL as birthplace and Pape has Danville with a question mark. As far as I know he was born somewhere in Illinois, lived married and died in Vermilion County. Thanks again! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2005 7:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ILVERMIL] Help with birth - parent info - Willis Hymer I find a Willis Hymer in the 1870 Somer, Champaign Co IL Census. 3. Hi folks, Just stumbled on this list. Have been researching Hymer family and come to a dead end with Willis Perry Hymer [my G- G- Grandfather]. According to my info he was born in Illinois. Pape database has birthplace as "Danville,IL?" Parents were both from Kentucky according to census. Solid info I have: Willis Perry Hymer b. 20 Jul 1862, d. 31 Aug 1929, buried Gordon Cemetery m. Ida May O'Bryant 18 Oct 1881 in Vermilion County, IL she was b. 02 Jun 1866 in Vermilion County, IL, d. 29 Jul 1924 and is also buried in Gordon. I have no census data[for Vermilion County] for 1880, 1890, 1910 and he does not appear in 1870. If anyone out there could point me in the right direction it would be highly appreciated. Thanks

    1. Re: [ILVERMIL] Re: Hurst Reunions 2003
    2. Your story is touching. But you really don't give much info. First, Is this Nicholas from Vermilion County? Or were you just throwing out a query in hopes of getting a response? Secondly, did they marry in Illinois in 1873? If they did the Illinois State Archives is on line and has all the marriages til 1900. If they are listed then you can write to the county and get the record. This will give you at least the brides name. Thirdly, They were in the 1910 census. WHERE? Fourthly, He died in Concho, Texas. Get his death record from the county courthouse. I have a Nicholas Hurst but no Tennesee or Alabama, just a Missouri Hurst. They were from Clark Co, Illinois and Paris, Edgar Co Ill. Good Luck Granny

Surnames: Hurst, Fagan, Gifford (maternal) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3g.2ADI/4239.1 Message Board Post: My great-grandfather was Nichlos H. Hurst, who claimed in the 1910 US. census that his father came from the German part of Switzerland. He married my great-grandmother about 1873. I do not know her maiden name. My mother, who knew her before the age of 6, claims she spoke mostly "German." I doubt that. Her name, according to several censuses, was Tennessee Alabama (no known maiden name). I believe those are the states from which her parents came. Nichlos died in Concho, TX, between 1910 and 1920. Tennessee (who called herself "Alabama") died sometime in the 1930s. She lived with my grandparents. However, their marriage broke up and she disappears from view around 1931, when my grandmother, Nora Fagan Gifford, moved her children west, finally settling in Casa Grande, Arizona. I would like to know more about the Hurst part of my family, if anyone knows. My mother claims they were Jewish. (She told me this years ago when I was 45. She said she had kept it a secret because of! the anti-Jewish sentiment in Europe--as well as in the US--when she was growing up. She claims she didn't mention it later because "I never asked." I didn't meet her until I was about 13 and we lived together only 5 years, when I left for college). Mom also claims Alabama spoke mostly German, but she really wouldn't have known what language Alabama spoke--at the age of 5, she would have known only that she did not understand her. I met my maternal grandmother, Nora Gifford, only a half dozen times and we never discussed "family." I never met my grandfather, even though he died (I believe) about 1988. So I don't have a lot of clues. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows about them. Thank you.

    3. Granny Here is what I have. Maybe I have the wrong cemetery. Paul Index to Death Register, 1877-1907, Volume 1, M, Vermillion County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by:Trudy McKean Vermilion County, Illinois: Index to Death Register 1877-1907; Volume 1 Note: A word of caution about this index, I attempted toinput the dates (when there was one)exactly as the clerk(s)wrote it, there was a liberal use of ditto marks in the yearcolumn (some were probably errors) and the years jumped backand forth so I do not feel the years are at all accurate. Please DO NOT use this index as a form of verifying date ofdeath, but as a source for ascertaining place of death andobtaining the original Death Certification for verification.Additionally, if the name you are searching for begins with a"s", i.e., Sedgwick or Sargent, also check the listings under"I".
