Hi......... Have you looked at the Pape Mortuary site? There is listed: William Hanley Born: 1826..Vermilion Co. Ill. Died: 9/17/1894 Spouse: Mary Buried: Dodson Cemetery It states his Father died of Brights disease. I think the info it gives on his Mother is the date when his Mother's obit was in the Danville Daily News. Mary Hanley Born: 1831...Vermilion Co. Ill. Death: 12/25/1898 Spouse: Wm. Buried: Dodson It states her Father dide Bismark, Ill. consumption Hope this information helps......look up the Pape Mortuary and you can double check the accuracy of this information. Carol So. The wedding announcement of Maggie to Birt Claypool includes the information that Maggie and Birt were married at the home of James and Mary Jenkins. This would have been May 5, 1894. That is the last record I know of that pertains to my great grandparents. Maggie and Birt died in the late 1940's and are buried in Leonard Cemetery just off Bowman Avenue just north of the airport. Does anyone know of any more information (death dates, place of burial etc.) on James and Mary? From the descriptions I get by "family legend" it wouldn't surprise me to find that they lived somewhere in Vermilion County, probably in the Bismarck area (Ross or Newell Townships) but I have no way to be confidently assertive in that idea. I can give you one of the descendants of Capt Jacob Prickett & Dorothy Springer. They had a son John Prickett b. abt 1748 Frederick Co, VA and died abt. 1830 in Grant Co, IN. He married Elizabeth Hays in Monongalia, VA. They were blessed with the the following children: Zadoc, Manerva, Eliza, Phoebe, James, William, Henry, Benjamin, Presley, Susan, Nomrod, and Amelia. They all lived and died in VA, OH, IN, IL, MO, and MI areas. This info was passed down to me by another Prickett researcher. I am a Hays researcher. The Hays clan and the Prickett clan along with the Strait/Straight families are found near each other quite often. If you are interested, let me know and I will give you a little more info on this group. Sincerely, Kathy Hays Curtis

If you check the census records for the years that you think that your person was a resident there, and find out what decade(s) he was there in the census records, you can contact Kathy Butcher at the Illiana Geneological and Historical Society at 215 West North Street, Danville, IL 61832 or by email at ighs@sbcglobal.net and ask for her assistance. I recently was looking for my GGrandfather's brother, John Will Westfall, who was a resident (or "Member" as they referred to them)there off and on from 1900 to 1926; the first time for 4 years, the second time for 8 years, the third time for 13 years. I happened to contact Kathy at the IGHS asking if she knew where I might find information about the former residents of the Home. Surprisingly, she said that they had some of the records and would check for me. The information I got from her was amazing. It included: MILITARY HISTORY: Dates and place of each enlistment The Rank The Company and Regiments Transfers if there were any Date and place of each Discharge The cause of the discharge The disability When and where the disability was contracted DOMESTIC HISTORY: PERSONAL INFO INCLUDING: Where born, Age when admitted to the home, Height, Complexion, Eyes, Hair, Religion, Occupation, Residence after discharge, Marital satatus, Nearest relative, and their address. NATIONAL HOME HISTORY: For each admission info included: Pension Amounts, which increased each time he was readmitted. Date admitted Date discharged Why discharged GENERAL REMARKS included: His Pension Certificate Number Good luck in you search. I hope this helps you. Sherry Ryan San Diego

I have been getting error 504-gateway time out on my messages. But anyway, IGHS((Illiana) have all the cemeteries "read" in Vermilion County, If they didn't have a stone then you won't find them listed. The Known Burials is an index formed from these readings. There is a sexton listed on papemortuary.com web site and if he has records going back that far, then you're lucky. Have you tried probate records? IGHS also has probate records and land records. It might give you info?

That would make us related through Michael and Nancy Ann (George) Courtney. Secondly, in your cd of the Old Partlow; is it your understanding that the cd contains all of the known burials of that cemetery? Steve
I asked a family member and they say that at one time it belonged to the Sconce family, then turned into a nursing type home, and last they knew a Cramer lived there. They will try and find out more if you wish. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <ILVERMIL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 29, 2006 7:23 PM Subject: [ILVERMIL] Historical Mansion > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.vermilion/7456/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I'm looking for any information available on a massive brick mansion that > I've come across on the road that leads south out of Indianola.
