Thanks for the suggestion about Piggot, Arkansas. I will check there. As to the marriages there in the 1940's and the supposition about the war, I do have a brother of my grandfather who filed a petition in court in Howell County, Missouri asking that the three-day waiting period be waived. He stated that he was on a short leave from the army (this was in the 1940s) and didn't know that there was a three- day waiting period and he didn't have that much time. He was able to get married. But maybe others just went elsewhere. I know this isn't the particular case for my grandparents since they were married in 1932. Patti
