Louisa Peeler born December 1877 in Johnson County, IL married my half great granduncle Christopher Columbus Edwards on 04 December 1898 in Johnson County, IL. They had at least eight children: Della M., Ruby Fay, Edna C., Cecile Marie, Ina Marae, Rebah Iona, Virgil Howard and Ralph Waldo Edwards. That is all the information I have for Louisa. Is there any information that might be helpful in identifying where someone from Union County might have gotten married in the 1930's. You know, one of those things were it was easier to cross the border because of no waiting period. Recently heard about someone who went across a border because no blood test was required and they were of a religion that didn't allow that. Immediately bells went off in my head because my grandparents were Jehovah's Witnesses at the time. My situation is that my grandmother lived in Anna, and my grandfather lived in Memphis or Thayer, Missouri. As far as I know they did not live in the same place until they married. But both their families were JW. So I'm assuming that's how they met. I have not been able to identify where they married. Union County has no record. Shelby County, TN has no record. Howell, Cape Girardeau, and Oregon counties have no record. There may be no rhyme or reason, but thought I'd ask if anyone would have any knowledge of why a particular place OTHER than Union might be desireable for marriage. Patti http://hobbits8.net
My parents lived in Pulaski Co., IL and married in Ballard, Kentucky in 1926. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patti Hobbs" <genealogy@hobbits8.com> To: <ilunion@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2008 7:37 PM Subject: [ILUNION] marriages > Is there any information that might be helpful in identifying where > someone from Union County might have gotten married in the 1930's. > You know, one of those things were it was easier to cross the border > because of no waiting period.
