    3. The Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Monday, December 23, 1963 Son Stricken, Dies After Father's Death Lester C. RIDGEWAY, 58, Cobden, died Saturday shortly after hearing that his father, Richard B. RIDGEWAY, 90, had died Friday in Mattoon. The younger RIDGEWAY apparently suffered a heart attack when he received word of the death. He was admitted to Union County Hospital at 11 a.m. Saturday. He died at 12:50 p.m. Mr. Lester RIDGEWAY was born Dec. 27, 1904, in Makanda, the son of Richard and Leila GURLEY RIDGEWAY. He was owner and operator of Ridgeway's, a general merchandise store in Cobden. He took over the store when his father retired several years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cobden, and the Masonic Order. Masonic rites were held 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Mr. RIDGEWAY was married to the former Lena CHAMESS of Marion on Jan. 1, 1937. He leaves his wife; a brother, Donald, Jonesboro; and a sister Mrs. Ethel SMITH, Lerna. Joint funeral services for Mr. RIDGEWAY and his father were at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, Cobden. Rev. Earl BLACK, Jonesboro, and the Rev. Clifford HEIL, Cobden, officiated. Mr. RIDGEWAY will be buried in Cobden Cemetery. The elder Mr. RIDGEWAY will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Makanda. The Broadway Funeral Home, Cobden, was in charge.
